Overreaction Planet

It took a perfect storm for us to lose by one point to the team with the second best record in the AFC last night. SB teams lose games (almost) every year. We have been hanging around 18% chance to win the SB all year. It will in all likelihood end in disappointment. This was always true.

Bottomline is we weren't as good as some of you thought before this game and we are better than some of you think afterwards. In either case, expect to walk away from this season without a SB victory. Play the long game.

It's hard to say but yes a few of them need to go for sure, they don't belong in the XFL much less the NFL. It's hard to say how bad they are with this shit coaching.

You guys are doing a great job dissecting that 4-minute drill (while also doing a good job of dissecting each other). Kudo things and prop things too, on that.

I can't bring myself to re-watch the game yet, so I'm not sure about the block-in-the-back call on the return. Seemed iffy at the time (but a lot of calls against us seem iffy to me). But if it was legit or not, we could have expected the Bolts to load up and come hard because we were backed up. Then, of course, Stonehands decides to give the line judge a wiggle on "set". Which leads me to this ...

Our boy got hit a ton in that Ravens game. A ton. We're in the 4th quarter of a game in the 4th quarter of the season (with a playoff berth locked up) and a thought crossed my mind. Although I know that Mahomes has great trust in Tyreek, I think he went for the modest pickup on the 2nd play of that series due to the trust factor, but I wonder if he is also getting a little gun shy. Not necessarily out of fear, but because he's been told to stop taking those hits if he can (surely we can all agree that he's throwing the ball away a lot more lately). In other words, don't wait for the 20-yarder to clear. Take the short gain, get the drive moving in the right direction, and play 3rd down.

Of course, there's also the issue of the o-line which I (and many others) have mentioned previously; they absolutely sucked ass on that "series". Major suck of a major ass. At this point, I'm hoping that Schwartz isn't injured and that the communication was at fault because I didn't expect anything from Jeff Allen ... last night or ever, really.

I agree with Mr. cdcox, though. A good Planeteer is obligated to have an aneurysm after a game like this. For my part, it doesn't affect my belief that we can win out and still get the 1-seed. In fact, this may well be the perfect wake-up call. The Chiefs embarrassed themselves in front of their fans in a very important moment. I don't expect them to do that 3 times in a row. Not with this coach and this QB.

This is BS analogy. But, I agree with your premise. Whats good entertainment is good for the NFL. In our case, thats a good thing,
Mahomes is entertainment. Mahomes is showtime. The NFL network fawns all over Mahomes knob 24/7. What do you think other teams are saying about the NFL wanting us to win because of that Mahomes love fest 24/7?

There are videos on social media showing fans reactions to Mahomes plays for crissakes.

As we saw in the Hunt case, social media can work both ways. Something goes viral for a bad reason, your toast. For good, you make a fortune to be associated with that viral thing. There are people making $100 million a year just making videos about gaming. There is a 7 year old in Japan who evaluates toys on you tube making $7 million a year.

Mahomes and this O are championship caliber but the D will prevent it. Tell me if I’m wrong. I hope Veach and Clark are paying attention. Does Clark even care unless there is a TMZ video?

Needless to say the team should have learned a lot after that loss, time will tell. They have 8 more days to think about their individual failures, let's hope they handle it correctly. Even if designed to be artificially amplified with the stadium's construction, they're going into a very loud and hostile stadium where they'll be playing against one of the league's historically darling teams; I hope they're ready for it. It'll be the 18th largest US city hosting the 36th largest city's team, so market size may not be in our favor. If you believe in such accusations. It'll be a coach that let's the officials know right away when they've made a mistake (Pete), against a coach that's fine with generally letting mistakes ride and waiting for a letter from the league (Andy). Let's hope being the latter helps to keep us in the favor of the officials and also helps to keep the calls against us very low. Wait.....

Oh, and let's hope the pitch count for Berry is "4 quarters" also.

I think we were all just shook up by the flop. I and many others thought Mahomes was our immunity shot to keep that past disease from infecting this team going forward. I usually watch the game live with about 35-80 Chief fans down here. Our takes live usually match up with what the Planet is saying live.

We were upset and adamant live that it was Andy's conservative play calling that was allowing this collapse to happen. Or more specific, not allowing Mahomes to go make plays and stay ahead of our shitty defense blowing the lead.
