Clayton on Trent. espn radio. 9:50pm.

Dolphins aren't interested in a trade.

Trent is pleading to Peterson to let him go.

Peterson is waiting for a pick that's not coming.

Dolphins will just wait for him to be cut.

The playcalling became borderline idiotic because the coaching staff panicked.

That's what happens when nobody, not even your HoF tight end, can catch the ball.

And when passes are at the feet or behind recievers when your qb is flustered or hurried and his mechanics are not there. Which he has a history of.

Just continuing your thought ( i think ) of everyone taking the blame, not just the coaches.

Green used to be good at that, somewhat.

He did actually say it, It pretty much went like this: that the young guys are naieve and don't know any better than to do what the team wants etc.

He didn't use the word naive. He is also 100% correct in what he said.

I was talking about the whole idea that the competition is being weighted towards Brodie. The "80%" comment came directly from Green.

The words were:

"[The Chiefs said] 'And now we want you back and now you can compete.' And that's never really changed from the beginning. They always said it was gonna be a competition. It's just, in my mind, I guess being in the league long enough, I think it's a weighted competition. I do know that Herm has been very vocal about wanting to get younger at the QB position and the amount of reps that Brodie's gonna get is gonna be substantially weighted. I think the number will be somewhere around 80%..."

As for the comment I took issue with he said that the young guys will "just roll with it", because they "don't know any better" after going on about Eric Hicks got a raw deal.

See my post #81. The fact that he aired this out in public is my issue. I don't dispute a lot of what he said. In fact, this whole drama, is starting to sway me against a lot of things I have defended on this board. I could have been wrong all along in the way I perceived some things.

What word did he use? It was certainly used in the context, that I associated to mean naive.

It doesn't matter if he's right or not.

Team leaders, as he professes to be, don't make such comments about teammates.

Especially in a public forum. I would have bet a lot of money he would have never said something like that. Elvis Grbac anyone?

1) I think the whole "naieve" comment is mountains out of molehills. Perhaps he mispoke. Perhaps he used the wrong word. As I sort of pointed out earlier, it's not like he said these guys suck and can't play. It's not like he said they're a bunch of assholes. He said, basically, that they have a different perspective because they're younger. As one gets older in the league, perspective changes.

2) I don't think that Trent sees himself as a "team leader" any longer, if the team you're referring to is the Chiefs.

"they don't know any better" is a putdown of the players, no matter how you slice it. It is also very undermining to the team chemistry, players and coaches.
I have a very hard time putting any kind of positive spin on what he said.

So it's OK for Trent to change the way he views himself, but it's not OK for the fans to view him differently?

That can be read as, "I don't blame them, I was the same way back then." To me, he's saying that Carl's a prick, and eventually they'll all find that out. Don't believe the BS that you're fed. He did, and it backfired on him.

I have zero problem with people saying, "I no longer feel that Trent's the leader of the Chiefs." What I have a problem with is people acting like he's lacking leadership quality or that he was never a leader of the team. People act like, since he said this, they've been wrong all along and Trent's really a horrible person and a cancer to the Chiefs. I can't tell you how many times on these threads I've read, "I used to like Trent Green..." or "I used to think Trent was a leader..." Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I just don't see the statements Trent made being antithetical to being a leader.

It took that comment more as they don't know the ropes yet or something more like that not insulting at all.

example: if you don't know where something is at in a building you will walk and wander around until you find it. You would do this because you didn't know any better.
