And we will be running some 4-3.

I've already proven that we're not running a true 3-4 scheme, and the fact is we will still be running a lot of 4-3 formations. What do you think we're going to be in in nickel and dime packages most of the time? A 40 front with 4 down linemen. And now teams run 3 wide so much that you end up in nickel about 45% of the time.

I appreciate the input and amount of detail you've put into all of this. I really do.

But if you want to be respected around here, it might be best to stop with the condescending tone.

How have you "proven" they will not run a true 3-4 scheme other than say Clancy doesn't have the experience with it?

Clancy DOES have experience with it. So does Gary Gibbs.

Clancy does not. He has never run a 3-4 two gap front as a defensive coordinator and one of the reasons that Whiz let him go in Zona was because he wanted to get someone who runs a two gap 3-4. Gary Gibbs also ran a 4-3 with the Saints, not a 3-4. And this wasn't by request of Sean Payton, who is also a Parcell's descendant.

Basically you guys keep going back to the fact that you think we are going to run a two gap 3-4 but you haven't shown a thing that points to that, other than Haley being a Parcell's guy and Pioli being in New England. If they wanted to run a true 3-4 that bad, they would have hired TRUE 3-4 guys. They didn't. They hired guys that have run fronts that are SIMILAR to 3-4 fronts, but run in 1 gap schemes. And that's a fact. So until you have something tangible that points to us going to a 3-4 two gap front maybe it's best to stop talking about it like it's fact.

I didn't say either of them had experience with the 3-4 as a COORDINATOR. Both of them, especially Gibbs, have 3-4 experience as position coaches or graduate assitants for college teams.

The big knock on Gibbs with the fans in New Orleans was that his background was almost exclusively 3-4 prior to joining the team. And he was a key member of the 2005 Cowboys coaching staff transitioning them from 4-3 to 3-4.

I haven't said a word about gap assignments. I'm talking about 30 fronts vs. 40 fronts. The two ARE NOT inclusive. It's too bad the rest of us can't be up to your level of football acumen.

He ran a 4-3 at LSU in 01.

When Gibbs got to Dallas in 02 they ran a 4-3. They didn't start making the transition until the 05 draft when they took Marcus Spears. Gibbs took over in New Orleans in 06.

Maybe it's best you know what you are talking about before you post this stuff.

When I'm talking about going to a 3-4, I'm talking about two gap 30 front defense. That is the 3-4 the Steelers run. We are NOT going to run that. We will run a hybrid 3-4 with a stand up end, no different than what the Cards ran last year. It IS NOT a true 3-4.
