Though, I'll disagree with that declaration anyway since Season 1 was the best. No doubts.

You were right, Season 5 was also passable. 4, 6, 7 were atrocious.

I think I have a higher tolerance for the show's faults because I never expect much from it. Even with Season 1 I found shit that eliminated it from being a top-shelf drama. I know that it is a cartoon and I enjoy it for the merits that it has, namely bad-assery and an indulgence of my inner conservative. |

Even treating it as pure fantasy indulgence as I do, seasons 2 and 6 were God-awful. So that's saying a lot. |

Season 1 will never be topped. Season 2 was ok. 3 was shit. 4 and 5 I thoroughly enjoyed. 6 was horrid except when Jack went all Jack on the bad guys. 7 was a complete letdown. 8 is pissing me off with this ridiculous storyline that CTU doesn't know about her past. That is almost as bad as the White House raid last year.

I don't care about realism as much as you all do...and I agree that the CTU shit with the girl this year is super gay and lame...
BUT I've enjoyed every single season so far... |

Some of the teasers I have seen in commercials for this season have me intrigued though. I still have some hope for this year. Not a lot but some.

It hasn't lost me yet, but if they focus even more on that part of the show, I'll probably stop watching. |

I think season 3 is the best overall. With Jack's addiction to heroin, Chappelle and the finale where Jack uses the axe, I loved it. Season 6 had a fantastic start with Curtis and the nuclear bomb going off, but it fizzled out. Season 5 sucked and season 7 was much better.

The only thing that will work is the CTU knows about the past and the Russians are the ones that put the ex on to her to get her to give out info and the Russians are paying him.
