Spinoff: **The Official, "They Should Totally Remake That Movie!" Thread**

Saw Demonpenz's thread about Iron Eagle and thought this might be fun, (if it hasn't been done already). If it's been done, fricken humor me while I wait for the Ambien to start working.

What older or poorly executed movies would you like to see remade?

I'll start:

I heard this was going to be remade but it fell through:

I don't think any movie should ever be remade. Ever. Whether it's good or bad or exhilarating or disappointing. Go with fresh material.

Not a remake, but Titanic 2. The sequel.

Remakes or sequels:

The Wraith(sequel or remake, with updated car)..
Killer Klowns from outer space 2, new town, new carnival..
The Blob 2, old crazy preacher lets it out..
Robocop(remake)

Do not even touch The Secret of Nimh, they made a sequel and it sucked.

Escape from New York Remake Coming with Gerard Butler

March 13, 2007
by Alex Billington

Wow, this came out of left field. Apparently a remake of John Carpenter's 1981 awesome movie Escape from New York is already in pre-production. It already has a producer, Neal Moritz, as well as a screenwriter, Ken Nolan (who's only written Black Hawk Down previously). In addition to those names, another one that's at the top of all the buzz this week is Gerard Butler, who is going to take on the coveted role of Snake Plissken, which was Kurt Russell's job back in '81. Although he's not confirmed, Butler is interested, as Variety states. Incase you've forgotten the plot over the 26 years, Snake is a one-eyed convict who must head into the "inescapable maximum security prison formerly known as Manhattan" to find and liberate the US president.

It'll be interesting to hear Kurt Russell's feedback on this, and if he thinks Butler is fit for the role, or if the movie is even fit for a remake at all. That question will definitely come up in a few week's at the Grindhouse (Russell's next movie) junket in Los Angeles, so stay tuned here on FS.net for more developments

I think they should make a non musical version of The Year the Yankees Lost the Penant. It's an entertaining book and I think it would be good as a straighforward movie instead of the musical version, Damn Yankees.

Butler escapes 'New York' remake
Actor exits film due to creative differences
By MICHAEL FLEMING
Before they shot a frame of film, Gerard Butler escaped "Escape From New York," the remake of the John Carpenter film.

Right after his turn as the Spartan in "300," Butler made a deal to play Snake Plissken in a film bought at auction by New Line. He left for creative differences. New Line is persevering: studio has brought Jonathan Mostow in to rewrite, with an option to direct.

Butler just began production on Lakeshore's "Game," which Lionsgate will distribute. He'll next be seen starring in the Richard LaGravanese-directed "P.S., I Love You," the Guy Ritchie-directed "Rock N Rolla," and Fox-Walden's "Nim's Island."
