Do you have a good reason to bump that thread?

Lately, we've had a few users who think bumping threads from years ago is fun for them. It's nothing new necessarily but the mod team has had more and more complaints on the matter. At least 2 people have been banned over it. So we wanted to make an announcement. If you are browsing the archives and decide to bump an old thread to the front page you should have a very compelling reason and state it in your bump post. Otherwise, you may risk a vacation. This rule applies in the lounge area at this time only. It doesn't seem to be a problem in subforums.

It seems to me that a restart of the reactors in the country where 350,000 people died and the country sank into the sea (briefly) is a very compelling reason to bump an old thread about the crisis.

Because whomever set up the filter thought that the thing we were not supposed to discuss is 4 Chan. They got it wrong... /b/ is what is not supposed to be discussed. They likely thought they were playing along with rules 1 & 2 and instead miserably failed.

There are various annoyances, but it's mostly with multiple thread bumps for no reason. There are dumb bumps, such as bumping a thread from 3 years ago with the title "Cassel signs 3 year deal" or rehashing someone's personal drama from several years ago... but, like Phobia said, doing that once won't get you banned.
