You have a guy that has proven he can play well at a position of weakness...on a team with Mahomes. I'm not expecting miracles...but this is a good "hedge" signing by Veach.

He essentially replaces a player, at the same position, that wasn't seeing the field. You arent losing much...

If he turns out to help stop getting gashed...this is a huge win.

well, he's not a guy that's going to rack up stats.

As others have said, it'll be more about what DOESN'T happen when he's in the game.

Look at that human. You gotta go around him.

I would expect he'll be a run down/ short yardage specialist.

I still wonder if guys like Pennel got pushed out of the league because defenses are trying to get smaller and faster to account for the spread and because with hurry I offenses defenses needed 3 down DL. It explains why some teams like Baltimore and San Fran have dominated with power run games. But it still doesn't explain why a talented player like him hasn't been picked up. Hoping for the best. I asked the same of wisnewski and hes so far looked like a great find.

Sometimes it's just about a good fit.

scheme, talent around them, and particular skillset.

I would expect Pennel to be sort of a one trick pony at that size. If you need that one trick, and can live with the lacking in other areas, then it's a good fit.

Few men that size are as athletic as Poe was, so I wouldn't expect that.

But if you want to run against us on first down, then I'd want Pennel in there. If it's 4th and one, I'd want Pennel in there.

That’s a big donkey. Need to get his as soon in shape though. Doesn’t matter how big you are if you’re a big, lazy turd who can’t play more than 2 snaps in a row without needing an oxygen tank.

Hope he pans out.

Remember eons ago when we had Keith “Tractor” Traylor. Then he went to Denver. Then he dominated the trenches in that one playoff game. Torqued me off. Can we hope that Pennel can do the same going forward. Maybe wishful thinking.

one thing to keep in perspective:

You're not going to find 'difference makers' off the scrap-heap mid-season.

You can find role players, sometimes, that make your team more sound overall.

I'd say Pennel has a good shot at being that type of role player.

Role players are exactly what we need. Hope this works out.
