I said top 10 arm talent, it absolutely is.

That ball comes out crisp, with velocity, even while he's rolling out.

If he can catch up to his peers when it comes to understanding defenses he'll be a top 10 passer as well.

Did you watch him on Sunday? He already looks like a better passer.

He's been studying Mahomes, you can tell. He's now manipulating receivers open with the threat of the run. He's creating passing lanes using his feet and then hitting guys between the numbers on the move. He's no longer just seeing lanes and running, like 2 seasons ago.

Anyone who thinks he's going to crash and burn hasn't been watching him, and didn't watch him on Sunday.

If you think he's just some running QB who's mediocre at throwing, then i question what you're watching.

The Jackson defenses are a bit repetitive.

We saw this last year too. He trashed the bad teams through the air early also.

He needs to prove it against the top competition, particularly when it actually matters.

If he can’t, he’s clearly a mediocre passer.

It’s really a fair critique. If he’s going to be mentioned amongst the best QBs in the game as a passer, then he can’t just put up a bunch of stats against bad competition.

Have to agree. Lamar is a heck of a player and continues to get better. Given the coaching and supporting cast of both teams, I think we are gonna see a lot of very competitive games between them. Already saw 2 pretty entertaining games the last couple years.

Nobody thinks he's a fast Tebow. He's a damn good player.

That being said, he's not anywhere near the QB Mahomes is. Maybe if we didn't have Lamar's greatness shoved in our face on a daily basis, the critiques wouldn't be so harsh.

People are enamored with Jackson for the same reason they were enamored with Mike Vick. Until the guy proves he can win without the perfect setup, he's going to continue to draw the same criticisms.

I don’t think anybody said he isn’t very talented. He has unique abilities like few in the history of the game have.

My point is that he hasn’t proven his ability as a passer against the best defenses nor has he proven it when it mattered. Until he does that, I don’t see why we would anoint him amongst the game’s best passers.

The history of the league has shown us that QBs with a reliance on running the football don’t last. The elite pocket passers have won the majority of the Super Bowls.

Will Jackson break that mold? Possibly.

I’m not ready to put him in that conversation as a passer until he proves it against good competition or when it matters.

A couple of okay passing performances against NE and Buffalo, but a lot of meh in there too.

Yes, he was great against the Browns last week. He was also great against the Browns in Week 15 last year too. Just like he was great against the Dolphins, Texans, Rams, and Jets last year.

The Athletic:

1. Kansas City Chiefs

What we learned: Clyde Edwards-Helaire is a fun addition to an already loaded offense. While Damien Williams had some good moments last year, he produced a positive result (EPA) on just 36 percent of his runs, according to Sports Info Solutions. That ranked 44th among the 50 backs with at least 75 carries. While we can debate the wisdom of using a first-round pick on a running back, there’s no doubt that the Chiefs went into the offseason knowing they could benefit from a talent upgrade. And Edwards-Helaire gives them just that. He can make people miss, break tackles and produce positive gains even when the blocking is less than perfect. The defending champs didn’t play anywhere near their best and still beat the Texans by two touchdowns.

2. Baltimore Ravens

What we learned: Lamar Jackson is still getting better. It feels like any time we write about Jackson, we should mention that he’s only 23 years old. Statistically, it will be hard to replicate his MVP season from 2019, but in the offseason Jackson talked about wanting to improve his efficiency on deep throws. It looked like that focus paid off. Jackson delivered a dime in the first half, finding Marquise Brown for a 47-yard completion. He climbed the pocket and delivered darts all game long in the Ravens’ win over the Browns, finishing 20-for-25 for 275 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
