Well, Clayton, McCluster made you look bad yesterday.
However, I think those were "special circumstances". McCluster could cut on a slick field like no one else because he only weighs 170. The reduced coefficient of friction really benefited him because all those big guys had to slow down before they cut, or else their feet would go out from under. On that day, on that field, McCluster was a superstar. I'm not sure we can take this game as an indication that he's improving or can expect a similar performance under normal circumstances. Notice, also, that his 1st career punt return took place on a similarly slick field. This is something Reid needs to stick in his head come playoff time. |

Agreed. I also believe that if our receivers did their job, he would have a lot more underneath opportunities. It's no surprise that when the offense opens up, he plays better. Was also true when Orton was here.

McCluster. All day long. Avery won't even be on this roster next season. Dude absolutely sucks. Can't run anything but left side post routes and has hands of stone. McCluster's punt return ability alone makes him valuable to the offense in terms of field position, as does his flexibility to lineup in various positions in multiple offensive sets. |

A guy who actually provides some semblance of a deep threat to the offense is far more valuable. First downs: Avery: 21 Midget: 22 Touchdowns: Avery: 2 Midget: 1 20+ plays: Avery: 9 Midget: 4 40+ plays: Avery: 3 Midget: 1 % of catches that went for a first down: Avery: 60% Midget: 47.8% Winner: Avery

Don't get all pissy because your sig just took a major beating.
Avery is absolutely expendable, where McCluster is proving his worth to this team on both the offense and special teams. And, yes, he is signed to a three year deal and I don't know the specifics of it other than that in terms of the team getting out from under it earlier than the end of term. However, Avery is just a guy. He's on his fourth team since 2008 and can't catch the ball consistently or run decent routes other than the outside go/post on the left side of the field. If he had any relevance, the Colts would have kept him after last season to help Luck progress. I'm shocked Smith even looks his way at this point. |

I'm pretty sure we can find any slapdick off the street to get us 1.69 first downs per game. Really. He does nothing special.
His only value this year has been on ST. Move him to 4th WR and be DONE with it. I want a real ****ing WR in the slot.

Avery is a vertical receiver. He would suck in the slot. Of course his first down numbers are going to be padded because he's proven he is mostly worthless on the short stuff. I don't know a single person besides you that would rather have a very over McCluster right now. Even Donnie avery would rather keep McCluster. |

I can find three good games turned in by some other slapdick in Chiefs history I'm sure. McCluster is the same turd he has always been on offense. Catches a bunch of short shitty passes that go nowhere for the most part.

McCluster, as the third slot WR, has been targeted 11 more times (and that's competing against Charles and the tight end group in the same short to mid area of the field) and is averaging 9.5 per reception. And that's in addition to his punt returns. McCluster is the more valuable player and it isn't even close. |

I have been firmly in the DMC sucks ass camp since he has come to KC.
This year he has managed to change my mind a bit. I would like to see him return next year as our punt returner, but I still don't really want to see him catching passes, and FFS don't hand the ball off to him. |

He doesn't really add anything to the offense. If anything, he hinders it, because defenders know he isn't a deep threat at all, and is rarely even an intermediate threat, so it makes the offense more predictable. Imagine having a slot WR who could actually go down the field!!! Or pick up more than 1 or 2 first downs a game! CAN YOU IMAGINE!
