There's a big difference between the "thin-skin" you reference there and 'temper tantrums,' no?

Most hitters at least look/glare at the pitcher. Some talk occasionally, if there's some sort of prior history. Cain doesn't always talk. He doesn't always glare. But either way... not temper tantrums.

The stuff with Samardzija started with him yelling at the Royals from the dugout during the playoff series last season. It carried over to this year, obviously. Samardzija is also a red ass. Where's the criticism of him?

Where's the criticism of Chris Sale for pounding several beers after getting sent to the showers early and then showing up at the KC clubhouse door looking for a fight?

I'll give you that blame can be assigned to both place regarding the White Sox and Royals (though I certainly understand why teammates might take issue with a hitter getting drilled after the previous guy hit a HR that he treated 100 percent professionally, with no hand signs, no antics, no pimping, just a fast jog around the bases).

But making that situation all about KC is one-sided and ignores that aspect. Many have tried to do that.

Ultimately, KC hitters got drilled a LOT in the early going. It happened enough that the team felt the need to stand up for itself and take a stand. It's a mindset that likely carries over for the rest of the season.

It had not been an issue for over two months, until this weekend, when Donaldson pimped a few home runs and the team thought it had caught him stealing signs/passing signs.

I get why he was upset. It makes sense. But the reactions from guys like Gregg Zaun and Bautista in regards to the way Wolf handled it are hysterical bullshit, and those guys should recognize in hindsight they were lucky to not have Donaldson tossed then and there.
And Ventura's immaturity combined with what happened early in the year, is why I'm certain they had Volquez take care of the stealing signs problem. It was stealing signs Friday in Cueto's debut.

Still loving the contrived reasoning being used to excuse Volquez' intentional HBP that instigated everything on Sunday.

#1) No Cardinal fan brought up the Cardinals in this thread without some bitchmade Royal fan bringing them up. You know why? Because the Cardinals aren’t relevant to the discussion. Rather, we are dispassionate about your team. When we say that you all are acting like a bunch of ****ing punks, it’s not the word of God because we’re Cardinal fans, it’s the opinion of the rest of baseball. You all just want it to be an example of Cardinal fans acting superior because you’re so goddamned jealous of them, when the reality is that the Royals are just being assholes. You all have convinced yourselves that Cardinals fans are something they’re not because you need to invent a narrative to hate them beyond the fact that they are simply a better franchise than the Royals. Thus, you nitpick on the fans, because you can’t do it on the on-field results. And now, like Vanderbilt fans, you’re talking about the success of the AL in interleague, as if that somehow means your team wasn’t a pile of shit for three decades, and that there is no way that the Cardinals could have been successful in the AL.

#2) Don’t worry, I’m sure that you all are just being persecuted because you had one successful year in a morass of ineptitude. That must be why the Texas Rangers started getting in fights with everyone in 2011 and why the Pirates threw down five times in 2014. Oh, wait—that didn’t happen? Hmm. Wonder why? And in a feeble and stupid attempt to discredit the Cardinals, you end up dragging up examples stretching across several years (some of them completely invented, like our supposed dustups with the Pirates). Did you ever think that if you need to go back three Congresses to find enough paired examples as your team has had in four months that maybe you all are the ones with a ****ing problem?
“You know John, that woman is 65 years old, she’s slept with 20 men over the course of her life. That’s the same as the 16 year old who has slept with 20, right?”

#3) Let’s just say that the HBP numbers are meaningful (they aren’t). Why have you had more dustups than anyone else in baseball this year, including teams #1 and #2 in said standings?

#4) A few weeks ago I was standing in line in the grocery store. Behind me were two guys with less than fifteen teeth combined, talking about how stupid people with college degrees were. I thought to myself, “well, if I’m so stupid compared to you, why have I mastered oral hygiene while you’re gumming corn on the cob?” You ****s sound exactly like those two dumbasses when talking about us showing our ass in this thread. It doesn’t have to be based in truth; it’s true because you can make a baseless claim and have it bounce about the echo chamber, where you’re right because you’re right and no amount of evidence means anything. Perhaps you all should set up a Royals Holocaust museum, where your years of persecution can be compared to the greatest crimes in human history. It should fit in perfectly inside an annex in the Creationism Museum, both even have the same amount of proof.

#5) If watching the games means so much, how can so many of you be so consistently wrong about so much? Too many of you have been infected by Hootie strains of dumb****ery: invent a narrative, cherry pick stats, ignore any evidence to the contrary.

A lot of you are better than this.
All this verbal diarrhea and holier than thou rage, and none of you can answer a simple question. Why would Madson intentionally hit Donaldson, load the bases for Bautista, and start a scrum in a 2 run baseball game? Why? Because you can't. Donaldson wanted attention, and that's what he got.

If you hit somebody intentionally after a warning was issued (and that's how I saw it with Sanchez), a suspension is inevitable.

MLB is showing once again, though, that the only real lesson here is to get your beanballs in before the other team does.

There's nothing contrived about it. I think you can have a legitimate argument that baseball shouldn't be played that way. There are tons of people who would agree. But that's a different argument. Every team does it. The only mistake is acting like your team is somehow above it all. Pitchers will hit opposing batters for a myriad of reasons. From basic retaliation to injuries to dirty play. You don't even always know why.

It's not contrived. That's why he was hit. The players on the team thought Donaldson was stealing signs on Friday and thought he was pimping too much on the HR.

It's not an excuse. It's an explanation of why it happened.

It's a good thing we have Edinson Volquez and the Royals around to police the game, then. Gotta make sure it's played "the right way."

We don't know baseball here, despite MLB being in KC since the 1950s and the Negro Leagues/AAA the 40 years prior to that.

We need a crazed member of the BFIB society to angrily shout us down and thunder loudly about.....whatever the hell he spewed, nobody read it.

That's not what it was about at all.

Teams hit guys to send a message that they don't like something the other team has done all the time.

Josh Donaldson is far from the first guy to be hit for pimping a HR or having another team think it caught him stealing signs. And he won't be the last.

All pitching staffs do it. I provided a great example earlier with the Cardinals. You just choose to ignore it. I bet I could find a case where the Blue Jays have done it too. I'm not saying it's right. But your attitude here is not realistic, as if the Royals are the only team who does such a thing. You keep avoiding that point just so you can continue to be outraged.
