Restaurants of yesteryear
What Restaurants did you grow up around? I'm not talking super fancy and yes fast-food counts. What distinctive memories do you associate with them?

Mine?

Taco Via-(the lit up menu of the various taco plates displayed on the wall), WhiteCastle-On a paper plate with fries and Pepsi, Arthur Treachers(off Noland), Tippins(off Noland), Perkins(the free toy well), Country Deli(awesome local deli to Blue Springs heated sandwiches on Sourdough buns), Zarda BBQ and Dairy, FunHouse Pizza(of Course)(Dark. Video- Games,Electonic Riding Bull and 25-cent Taco night) Annes Sante Fe.

Keep in mind I never see these anymore living in Georgia.

Bamboo hut (my uncles watering hole), Busters club Roxy on Wornall (my dads watering hole).
There was a nice place on 47th and Sterling that had great steak soup.... can't remember the name.

45 restaurants have shut down for good in Phoenix. A few classics included. Could give a shit about Macayo's but their Tempe space and patio was one of the best.

One of my father's shorter-lived careers was as an assistant manager at a Nickerson's Farms. I was about seven at the time, and even at that age I realized that it was a bad idea to intentionally put a large beehive in a restaurant's wall. Bees were all over the parking lot, they'd come into the restaurant when doors opened, and sometimes you'd get one in the car with you on the way home.

I did like their gift shop, though, and it was cool to see the hive on the inside of the building behind glass.
