My statement:

If the Chiefs trade for Alex Smith, pass on drafting a QB in Rounds 1-2 (I could even live with taking a guy at the top of Rnd. 2 that they like) and draft some project in round 4-5 or later, all I can say is: They better win the fucking Super Bowl with Alex Smith, and they better be wrong about Geno Smith.

13-3 and a first round exit in a homefield situation won't cut it.

9-7 to 11-5 with never making it to the Super Bowl or Conference Championship won't cut it.

It's clear the Royals run their franchise with an old-school, outdated approach (advanced stats? What are those). It's clear Pioli's approach was old-school and outdated. Passing on a QB at No. 1 because "the best guy really only deserves to drafted No. 10, so we'll draft a fatty instead because you win with dominant OLs!" would make it clear that the football franchise is still running with an outdated approach.

I have hope that Reid and Dorsey are better than that. But they will have sacrificed all benefit of the doubt if they trade for Alex Smith and don't bring in a young QB via the draft.
