*****Official 2025 Royals Season Repository Thread*****

Coming off an American League Divisional Series appearance, its year 3 of Matt Quatraro tenure. Can they take the next step to a division title? Can Bobby Witt, Jr. take his superstar status to another level? Can Cole Ragans develop more? Will the other starting pitching duplicate last season? The offense can it deliver more? Who will be in the outfield? How about the new stadium development?

I agree. There is very little need for a manager to do much of anything except post game interviews or be the figurehead for the team.

Nobody should really be making any decisions anymore based on gut or whatever that means.

Especially since they've essentially attempted to remove discussions by the manager with umpires, arguing calls, and taken away any leeway for controversial antics. That was always a huge part of baseball that has been neutered.

While I'm all for Caglianone being promoted as fast as they think is prudent, I wonder what kind of pitchers he's hitting these bombs off of. That tweet from last night(?) shows a score of 14 to 11 in the 8th (I believe).

Bobby struck out four times yesterday? Yikes! That's a sombrero plus one!

Yes he did, and didn't look good doing IMO. Almost every count he was down 0-2 it seemed after swinging at balls out of the zone, and then fouling off some questionable balls. I don't know, maybe he's pressing trying to make up for people who can't get any hits?

Feel like there's 2 or 3 critical moments in a game where the human feel can override the analytics and that's where you'd like your manager to make a positive impact. That's a tough ask but you've literally been playing + coaching baseball for 50 ****ing years

3 runs on 4 hits with a HBP in there to get out of an inning by a butt hair only to give up a game-tying HR to the very first batter the next inning is one of those situations. That's not hindsight

The team approach this year seems to be “swing at all pitches no matter what”. The only two that seem to have any patience are Garcia who is conversely having a career year and India who may figure “I am useless outside of taking walks so maybe I should try for that most of the time”.

Having Inda in front of Bobby sounded like a good idea but the problem is India isn't a good hitter. Hes a walker. If you hit in front of Bobby you are going to get strikes. India doesn't know what to do with it.

Correct. And he’s also slow as shit. Maybe he’s hurt or something but I’d like a lead off hitter capable of legging out some hits and stealing some bases.

I think India should be hitting 9th, then you roll over India, Garcia, Witt later in the game.

They've been playing in Salt Lake City this week. It's not quite Denver but it's still high altitude so the ball carries and there's a lot of offense. The night before the score was 11-10.

Yeah, but every home run he has hit has been 100+ exit velocity. Altitude doesn't do much for exit velocity.

When you're hitting the ball well over 400 feet, can't chalk much up to altitude, IMO.
