The Chiefs should definitely go for someone at a safe position, like OL (Trezelle Jenkins, Eric Fisher), or DL (Tyson Jackson, Glenn Dorsey, Ryan Sims), rather than WR.

What happens if he busts?

A pairing of Maclin and DGB would be pretty sick, regardless of which school they went to. Because both are big-time beasts with crazy physical skills. Having not one but TWO starting WRs who can take the top off of a defense sure would suck, wouldn't it?
