Chiefs linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis was arrested Thursday night and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, THC and drug paraphernalia, driving without a valid driver’s license and failure to display a valid license plate or current registration, as first reported by Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star.

Which brings up a funny story. Years and years ago I used to be a cop. It's late at night, a van in front of me at a stoplight rolls through a red light. No stopping...just smoothly rolls through it. Easy enough for me, so my partner and I pull them over. Van slowly comes to a stop in a vacant parking lot. I take a look at the license plate and realize rather quickly that it's homemade. Like, made out of a soda box and sharpie scribbles to make it somewhat resemble an Arizona license plate. Except Arizona was spelled: Arzona.

Long story short, 11 people were in the van. None spoke english, nor had any documentation. Just migrant workers traveling from one farm to the next. They had been in the country for about 6 months. If a van full of 11 undocumented workers can criss-cross the United States in a van with failing brakes, and a misspelled, homemade, cardboard Arzona license plate then surely Kevin Pierre-Louis could have tried it for one night and not got his ass thrown in jail.

Let's get back to this crime of the century here. I bet the driving without a valid license, no tag, and registration all get dropped, or at most a minor fine after he shows the court at the appropriate date and time he does in fact have that documentation. Whew, man those misdemeanor traffic infractions sure are serious crimes.

So we are left with simple misdemeanor marijuana possession. So what is the cost to the taxpayers for this $20-100 bag of pot? How many thousands in dollars? I would prefer my tax dollars being spent in schools, roads, infrastructure projects rather than locking up some pot smoker. Wouldn't you?

Like I said. This could have easily been handled with tickets, and I will even add in a tow for good measure.

Me and my wife like to watch live pd on weekends and they almost never care about a little bit of weed..most cases like this, if the driver was honest about it, would be a citation..hell probably just a citation for the plates/reg and let the weed go (take it of course). For him to be arrested for this makes me thing he wasn't cooperative

I just turned 31 and when me and my wife to go kc okc or anywhere that has uber we always use it..better than fighting traffic, possible speeding ticket, and allows us the freedom to drink without worrying. It's cheap to get an uber and its nice to be able to sit back and relax and not worry about exits and traffic and shit. What irritates me is when they start asking me for directions..idk i'm not from here look at your ****ing gps
