And yet anyone would have the audacity to put him in even the same ballpark as mahomes? A guy who turned tyreeks head around in the super bowl and who threw upside down passes in a meaningless super bowl drive after getting pummeled into the ground.

But yeah, this stuff is wild. If anything it seems to confirm rumors that dude wasn’t even engaged in his own playoff game.
It matters. But not to the extent of walking away from a decent QB and wading into the deep without a base level of competency.

It’s why Smith kept a job, Kirk Cousins is still employed, Winston, Darnold, Baker, the lot of them. Nobody wakes up in the morning jonesing for Rapist Winston. And everybody knows he’s not doing shit. But the alternative is scary.

No difference here. I’m sure they are like **** this fool behind closed doors. But the alternative is scary so they offered the contract.

Oh, I totally agree. The same goes with dak prescott although he comes without nearly the same warts. We as chiefs fans should know what it’s like to be on the complete outside looking in. I’m just looking at this from the perspective of anyone trying to force these guys to be considered elite. I don’t know how anyone comparing these guys to elite qbs can ignore the HUGE leadership warts these guys have.

Not a leader. Just a midget in the right place at the right time. Teams are scared to death to start over at QB. Tyler is a jerkoff that will get them nothing and it won't take long for the fans to turn on him.

And in this case, you have a nobody head coach hired from the college trash heap specifically for this QB. That's it. If the coach and GM say, "We gotta move on because we don't trust the guy we hand-picked" there's very little reason for the owner to leave either of them in place.

I think more than any other team or young QB situation, it was a matter of signing the guy to an extension or getting fired.

Yeah, in that case if I'm Keim, I'm probably going to give Kyler the money, too

The media only cares about highlight plays. Once you stop delivering those that's when they'll tear your ass to the ground. It's not a matter of "if" but a matter of "when" when it comes to Murray.

And as far his contract goes: It's the Cardinals. Murray is the best thing that's happened to them in decades. WTF else were they going to do?

It does.

In these cases, the hope is the QB's talent can overcome their lack of leadership. Because both Baltimore and Arizona have playoff caliber teams. And the alternative to paying Murray, a good but not elite QB, is most likely ending up the 2021 Colts. A great roster wasted by 20th ranked QB play. That is the primeval fear. Yeah, having to pay the 11th ranked QB a mammoth sum isn't ideal but the likely outcome of switching QBs is irrelevance. And that gets a GM fired more quickly than a string of 9-8/10-7 seasons.

Their GM has been on the job since 2013. He drafted Rosen and Murray. I am sure the Rosen miss has scarred him.

I think it's overrated.

Maybe I'm different, but I've never been motivated by some other dude pumping me up or any of that jazz.

Just do your ****ing job and I'll do mine. Save all that other shit.

I think there's such a fine line in pro sports, but would maybe argue it's the opposite a lot of times... not necessarily motivating/pumping up teammates, but instances where you need to focus and follow the clichés of "do what got you here".

We can see that in that Texans playoff game where the Chiefs were killing themselves and needed to settle the **** down, or when you're down in the SB and don't want someone to try getting 11 points in one play and making things worse with a turnover.

And these guys also play hundreds of games over the course of a career, so sometimes they probably do need to be told to get their heads out of their ass, too.

The other side of it is not just a lack of leadership, but hurting your team... a guy who not only isn't leading his team, but is the one pressing too much when the team is down, whining to the refs and coaches instead of focusing on the next drive, etc. Some players may not need Braveheart speeches, but nobody needs a shit teammate at the most important position in sports, either.

As much as I thought this contract would be a catastrophe on the scale of the Titanic, even I didn’t think the relationship would spontaneously combust before the first week of training camp ended. What a weeping bitch this entitled little idiot is. Unless they can get out of the contract via that minimum work clause, the Cardinals are screwed for years. What a disaster!

Tbh there’s July 28th me and there’s July 24th me on my opinion of kyler murray.

July 24th me would say after hearing his response to the clause in his contract and hearing the team has removed it would say to me it was clearly blown out of proportion, the guy is a good player and obviously puts the time in, his employer clearly just wants to make sure he’s fully invested each week because of the potential they see in him and the rest of the league. He’s a game changer and if he study’s every week like a Brady, he can really elevate his game, or he can just be Michael Vick 2.0.

July 28th me would say yeah dudes immature, dick, and it was probably in the teams best interest to make sure he stays the course as he clearly thinks his shit don’t stink. That’s my newest take after diving more into this story than the casual fan watching his highlights

Some people have all the talent in the world and just aren't leaders.

Kyler is one of them. Dude just isn't likeable. Should make for an interesting 5 years.
