The Bengals run back to the playoffs will be extremely difficult, the AFC North is tough as ****.

Yeah that’s shaping up into a good division. Pittsburghs a real sleeper as I think Pickett quietly turned into a decent qb late last year. Even Cleveland could surprise with Watson having a normal offseason.

If Browns take that opening game and the Steelers take a game off them I'm pretty confident they're no better off than us come the playoffs. I think the Brown's offense still comes up short, but that entire DL should be better, not just the DEs. Hopefully they just beat the living s*** out of each other

Curious....why are so many people high on Pittsburgh? I'm seeing a lot of people picking them to win 12 or so games, in a division that should be good.

Because bad Steeler teams win 7-8 games. If Watt is healthy that Defense is nasty. The offense has a lot of weapons. So IMO its not all that difficult getting them to 11 wins if they get decent QB play.

I think they could upset the 49ers week one at home. Then they have the Browns, Raiders, and Texans. They should be 3-1 or 4-0 going into week 5 vs the Ravens. And honestly looking at their entire schedule, they should be a playoff team.

After their week 6 bye they have Rams, Jacksonville, Titans, Packers, Browns before they play the Bengals. That's not that difficult.

With as tight as we are on the cap, it just may not be something they're willing to do for a nominal upgrade on the 3rd or even 4th RB.

If they can't get him traded for a ham sandwich, I think they'll keep him. If they had maybe $5 million in cap space I could see MEH and Watson getting cut. But as it stands, if they have to pay those guys, they also need to have them as a couple of placeholders on the top 51. Otherwise it's just dead money hits AND the 2 salaries for the guys that shell game into the top 51 in their absence.
I agree with you. Chiefs being close to the bottom of the NFL in salary cap room has to affect how they handle CEH. Money is going to be tight.

I think the Chiefs would love to trade Clyde. With a trade, they would have only $1,357,559 of dead money. A cut gives them $2,577,503 of dead money for Clyde.

They hoped he would look good in the preseason games to either give them hope that keeping him one more year would pay off or another team would want him in a trade. He has been terrible.

He has been so bad that the Chiefs might actually be considering eating the extra $1.2 million and cutting him.

Mike Tomlin has never finished below 500 for one.

But why should anyone expect them to finish higher than the Bengals or Baltimore? I'd say the Browns are even better on paper.

If the Steelers got their OL fixed, they're a playoff team.

If they didn't, they'll keep doing the usual hovering around .500 crap with an inept offense and a very good but not elite defense

That division is better than past years. The Browns aren't the same pushover they were for 20 years and the Bengals and Baltimore are both elite.

I'm guessing that a lot of people are looking at their solid record down the stretch last year and assuming that it will carry over into this year. But here's who they beat during that stretch: Colts, Falcons, Carolina, Raiders, Cleveland, Baltimore w/ Huntley (also lost to Baltimore with Huntley a few weeks earlier). The Broncos might have gone 6-1 with that schedule. Here's what happened when they faced good teams: 38-3 loss to Buffalo, 35-13 loss to Philly, 16-10 loss to Miami, 37-30 loss to Cincinnati. The only win vs a good team was week 1 vs Cincy, and it took a 5-0 turnover disparity and I think two blocked kicks to win by 3 in OT.

They just weren't a very good team.

Yup.

Browns are going to be disappointing again, but if the Ravens and Steelers stay healthy, the Bengals are going to register at least two losses there.

Honestly, I think the Ravens are a dark horse. Lamar with these weapons is going to be a problem.

They may disappoint again, but I still think they're good enough to split with Cincinnati.

Their D matches up well with Cincinnati (pass rush) and their O matches up well against the Cincinnati D (great OL with a phenomenal running game).

Cincy almost lost (and honestly should have) to the Ravens with their backup QB in the playoffs. They're definitely in trouble this year in that divison.

I think the Ravens will actually win that division, and likely on a division tiebreaker. The Ravens generally seem to better within the division than the Bengals do.
