The Stars will lose some dead weight in Duchene... Benn would need to take a massive pay cut, IMO. DeBoer will still be a dumbass next season though.

Duchene put up 82 points on a $3 million cap hit this year.

I'll take that 'dead weight' 100 times out of 100. Is he a perfect player? No, of course not. But that's dirt cheap production any way you slice it.

They'll probably try to keep him and they'll pay a HELL of a lot more than $3 million for the privilege.

Though to the previous point, he's probably one of those spots where the Stars need to pivot somehow. He's been a non-factor in these last 2 playoff runs for them. I'll give a guy a break for a bad post-season but if you have 2 consecutive no-shows on a Cup caliber team, you've aged out of your prime and you're due for a new deal, it's probably time for the team to look elsewhere.

Ha, didn't realize he was only making $3 million/year... then yeah, 30 goals in the regular season followed by standing around in the postseason isn't the worst thing. Wondered if he's been hurt, but it's not like anyone around him was any less invisible.
