Well he is mostly right. Mauk had just set the bar so low that anything that resembled QB play was a boost.

Stat was pedestrian, had some bad decisions but also made some great throws too.

It just depends how you want to look it it. Half empty, well it was just okay and USC has a bad D. Half full, Lock faired well for his first career start, dudes a freshman and the offense has a lot of raw and kinda bad players.

LOL...seems there are a lot here who aren't satisfied that Lock didn't throw for 300 yards and 4 TDs.

I am quite happy that Lock came in and played the way he did....he made mistakes, which you would expect a Freshman starting his first game to make, but he got his feet wet, made throws that Mauk wouldn't have come close to making, and controlled the game.

You could tell they got conservative and Pinkel even said so in the interview after the game.

I would much rather go the rest of the season with Lock and let him learn, even if it means an average season with a low bowl appearance.

And this defense is getting more confident....they shut out SC in the 2nd half without Beckner Jr. If they aren't throwing gobs of money (and hordes of women) to Kuligowski for all his ability to churn out DL studs then they are crazy

I think he considers hanging it up after this year.

The program is trending downward and I don't think it's going to get any easier. He's getting older and other teams in the conference are getting stronger again.

I don't see a quick fix and Spurdog is too old for that rebuild shit.

I also don't think he's invincible in the bad Columbia, either. Maybe if he had made it to Atlanta at least once.

I say that they get rid of Lorenzo Ward first....his fate was sealed when John Hoke came on board. This whole "Co-Defensive Coordinators" thing was just to save face for Ward.

After that...yeah I could see Spurrier retiring.

They were never particulary strong on the recruiting trail, outside of one instance of being super ****ing lucky that Clowney said well uh I guess.

Best thing for USCe is to use Spurrier to recruit a good replacement that will stay for a long time.
