The "I just got back from the gym" and this is what I have eaten thread.

Okay, so there are a ton of guys in here that are working out, trying to work out, or 'thinking' about working out.

So, I figured I would start a thread. I am all about making myself accountable. The more people that I tell about working out, the more people I would let down by not going.

If you go to the gym.... then post here when you get back. If you do P90X, post here when you get done. If you ride the excercise bike.... post it here.

Anything you do to get in shape.... share with the board. I know I have gotten some great advice and feedback.

Also, post what you eat. If you post everything you eat, and you know others will be critical, you may think twice before you grab a Twinkie.

Okay, so, I went to the gym. I did five minutes on the cross climber to warm up. I stretched for about three minutes.

Then, I did three sets of squats with just 135. I did back extensions and hanging leg lifts. Three sets each. I did leg curls, calf extensions, abductor and adductor excercises as well.

On my leg day, I do very light chest exercises to work on my explosive power. I do three sets of six pushups as explosively as I can. I throw the excercise ball up like a chest pass while laying on the bench.

Then, I finished off my workout with 30 minutes on the eliptical.

As far as my diet.

Breakfast two pieces of peanut butter whole wheat toast, protein shake, and banana.

I have had another banana, two yogurts, and a handful of cashews as snacks.

I didn't have a 'lunch' per se.

Kids had sloppy joes with lean beef (as if that makes it great).... I took a baked potato, and put a serving of sloppy joe over it, with jalapenos and 2 oz's of lowfat cheddar cheese.

I have also had shotgun with water, and synthesize with water.

I won't eat again before bed.


Okay, I know putting everything down here will open me up to criticism. I know some will think that I am doing things all wrong. I appreciate any advice, but I have done a lot of reading and talking to trainers.... so, I have an idea of what I am doing.... or at least what I think I am doing.

The point of this thread, isn't to get into pissing matches about how to do things.... but rather to give ourselves a gold star for making an effort.

Try not to beat anyone down on this thread, because this is about encouragement.

Nice, let me know how it compares to the other you used. I'm actually trying out a different protein right now, because it was on sale. Gaspari Myofusion Chocolate. It definitely tastes better, but that's probably because it has 30 more fat calories per serving than the ON Whey.

Not as good as ON Whey PWO, but a better meal replacement for sure.

Well, yesterday was a horrible day at the gym. I totally mailed it in. Frankly, wifey had a special night planned and my focus had nothing to do with working out. I guess I can only obsess about one thing at a time.... and apparently, when my blood is not in my muscles, I am much weaker.

I went, did bench, incline, shoulder presses and tricep pulldowns. Then I bolted. I didn't drink my pre workout shake because it gets me too amped up, and we had a few drinks after I worked out. All in all, I don't think I helped my strength, weight or cardio vascular health last night..... but, it was a great night.

Today, I am back on the wagon, refocusing myself. So far, I have had a cup of coffee and a handful of almonds. I am about to do my protein shake.

I had to come post to draw the line in the sand.

Did 2 hrs of abs and 30 mins cardio yesterday... striving to gain weight as my metabolism is sky high.. currently eating second meal of the day (chicken-broccoli rigatoni drenched in olive oil, a pile of mixed nuts, some cottage cheese and a spoonful of peanut butter)

Overkill. You make abs in the kitchen via fat loss. You don't need to work your abs for two hours at a time.

Maybe true for most.. but I have bodyfat percentage < 5%.. I'll correct myself.. I should have said abs/obliques/core/lowerback.

No, you don't. You'd be dead. Your body needs a certain amount of fat in order to function correctly. You may have a low BF%, though. Not doubting that part at all. You just need to become familiar with what a certain body fat % looks like for you before saying what BF% you're at.

And as far as gaining weight is concerned, it's much more about how you work out than what you eat, although nutrition is important.

I wouldn't be able to recall everything I did or be able to give you the exact terms of the exercises.. I have been working out off and mostly on for the past 5 years, so I know what I'm doing in the gym.. I've gained roughly 8 pounds since the beginning of February... Not saying I know everything, but I know a great deal about the proper forms, nutrition, and recovery.. I have a picture at home from when I first started working out compared to myself now. It's quite encouraging to myself and could be so to some people on here as well, I'll post it sometime this week when I'm at home.
