I went to a family reunion last weekend and my cousin told me that her daughter and her son-in-law can only argue via text. They spent a good portion of the first part of their marriage separated because he was in the military so they got used to using text a lot. But now that he's home, when they get into an argument, they often go to separate rooms and text it out. Sounded weird to me, but whatever works, I guess.

I may have worded it poorly.

From someone who probably texts more than he should -- a lot of arguments or fights have escalated more duringa text conversation because it is so difficult to hear someone's tone.

She may be the devil incarnate and you may be perfectly justified in your anger, but giving her the silent treatment isn't the grownup way to deal with that. Talking it out with her now or telling her that you have to give some thought to what happened this weekend and it's going to take some time for you to figure it out are a couple of alternatives you have. Try to think about how you'd want to be treated if the roles were reversed and you just texted her apologizing for whatever it is that "you" did. Would you want to experience radio silence for a few days?

What was bullshit was that you didn't think it was a game. It's definitely a game. Don't play those kinds of games. Be upfront. Be honest. Be understanding. Be a non-game player and insist that she treat you with the same respect. And at the same time, allow yourself to move on if she's really not right for you. Don't just bail at the first sign of trouble though, unless it's a real showstopper.
