The "I just got back from the gym" and this is what I have eaten thread.

Okay, so there are a ton of guys in here that are working out, trying to work out, or 'thinking' about working out.

So, I figured I would start a thread. I am all about making myself accountable. The more people that I tell about working out, the more people I would let down by not going.

If you go to the gym.... then post here when you get back. If you do P90X, post here when you get done. If you ride the excercise bike.... post it here.

Anything you do to get in shape.... share with the board. I know I have gotten some great advice and feedback.

Also, post what you eat. If you post everything you eat, and you know others will be critical, you may think twice before you grab a Twinkie.

Okay, so, I went to the gym. I did five minutes on the cross climber to warm up. I stretched for about three minutes.

Then, I did three sets of squats with just 135. I did back extensions and hanging leg lifts. Three sets each. I did leg curls, calf extensions, abductor and adductor excercises as well.

On my leg day, I do very light chest exercises to work on my explosive power. I do three sets of six pushups as explosively as I can. I throw the excercise ball up like a chest pass while laying on the bench.

Then, I finished off my workout with 30 minutes on the eliptical.

As far as my diet.

Breakfast two pieces of peanut butter whole wheat toast, protein shake, and banana.

I have had another banana, two yogurts, and a handful of cashews as snacks.

I didn't have a 'lunch' per se.

Kids had sloppy joes with lean beef (as if that makes it great).... I took a baked potato, and put a serving of sloppy joe over it, with jalapenos and 2 oz's of lowfat cheddar cheese.

I have also had shotgun with water, and synthesize with water.

I won't eat again before bed.

Okay, I know putting everything down here will open me up to criticism. I know some will think that I am doing things all wrong. I appreciate any advice, but I have done a lot of reading and talking to trainers.... so, I have an idea of what I am doing.... or at least what I think I am doing.

The point of this thread, isn't to get into pissing matches about how to do things.... but rather to give ourselves a gold star for making an effort.

Try not to beat anyone down on this thread, because this is about encouragement.

Very nice. Glad to see some before and after pictures. It gives a skinny guy like me a little motivation.

I've only been lifting for 4 weeks. But, I'll do what I need too because I'm not willing to subject others to it. I was hoping it wasn't that contagious.

Oh well, I've been really lucky with going to the gym. I haven't really had to miss any time at all outside of getting sick a couple of times in the last couple of years. I have 2 days of the couch to 5k left, but I'll just run them outdoors. I've been wanting to do that anyways.

Just make sure you give yourself about a week off every 2-3 months. You can't go forever. The rest will do your body more good than constantly hitting the gym.

Well, by that standard I'm about due. I'll wrap up the C25K this week but I'll take it easy other than that for about a week. It'll probably be 5 days of pink eye anyways. Hopefully not more. I don't know though, I've never had it.

Last night, I got back on track. Great workout. I still didn't have all the time I wanted. I got caught up with work and didn't get to the gym until 9:10, and the gym closes at 10:00. But, it makes me pick up the pace, and I got through my entire workout other than one last set of preacher curls.... and Silock says they are pointless anyways......

Knowing that Silock weighs 172, and is an inch taller than me has given me a target weight of 170. I probably still won't be quite as cut as he is.... but, I think I will be happy with that. So, I have nine lbs to go. I have three weeks until I go on spring break. I am going to try to drop nine lbs in three weeks. We will see how THAT goes.

Okay, I have 21 days to lose 9lbs. I am going to come in here and log every single thing that I put in my body. Forgive me if this becomes tedious. However, this will hold me accountable. I am drinking water like crazy. It helps me with the empty belly feeling.

I just fixed my protein shake. My plan is two protein shakes today and eating at Panda Express. My total caloric intake should be less than 1000 calories. Shakes are 210 each, and Panda Express will be 510. So, that will put me at 930 calories for the day, and over 100 grams of protein.

If I can do this for 21 days, I can lose 9lbs. I will keep you posted.

I've taken 2 weeks off lol

But, I trained straight for 4 months non-stop. The resting part is amazing, I think your body recovers more than anything. I just simply believe we overtrain from time to time, it's inevitable. The reason Im saying that, is, when Im in the rhythm of training sometimes I get sleep deprived, with that being said, going to the gym off lack of sleep is like taxing your muscles since your training on top of minimal recovery time.

The time off is essential, I get more rest(minus the weights), and for some reason Im sleeping a lot better now, Im certain my body is appreciating what Im doing. The break in between training is like Im offsetting for recovery time lost from the duration of my previous training regimen. It's pretty much a makeup point from here on in.
