Nate Taylor: Chiefs expected to franchise OBJ again [not happening]

Quote:
Brown is technically the Chiefs’ top free agent, though for the second consecutive year, he might never reach the open market. Similar to last year, the Chiefs are expected to place the franchise tag on Brown, which will prevent him from becoming an unrestricted free agent. Such a move will allow both parties more time to negotiate a lucrative contract extension. If the parties cannot agree to a deal by the middle of July, Brown would once again be restricted to a one-year salary of $18.4 million, according to Over The Cap.

Quote:
The Athletic's Nate Taylor writes the Chiefs are "expected" to place the franchise tag on LT Orlando Brown again.

Brown played on the tag last year, briefly threatening to not report to camp before showing up on time. Since coming over for the Ravens in a trade, Brown has been stellar if not exceptional, and would probably profile as one of the five best free agents on the market if he got there. Taylor also writes that Brown turned down a six-year, $139 million deal with a $30.25 million signing bonus last offseason.
Not really new news...but he won't be hitting the open market at least.

Did for 2 years before moving back to RT as a senior.

I think he can. Size and power to do so. I think the athleticism is there but he needs to work on his feet a bit.

Like I said in the draft forum, I think he has premier LT tools if you can get him coached up.

I think he would struggle at LT here but that's ok. There's plenty of workable options.

That's literally the worst thing you could say with any weight.
IND - 257 passing yards/INT
BUF - 319 yds/2 INT
LAR - 1/6 RZ efficiency
A few other games, but you get the point.

3rd and short efficiency was among the worst in the league. RZ TD/Fg ratio, 22nd in the league.

Again, I'm not suggesting we panic. I'm suggesting the cupboard's not quite as fat as you seem to think it is. Travis hid a ton of inconsistency and inefficiency. Well, and McKinnon.

And we could go through the games themselves, and see the offense stall multiple times, usually mid-game for whatever reason. The first DEN game comes to mind. From about mid-way thru the 2nd quarter to nearly the end of the 3rd w either turned the ball over or went 3-and-out and basically left the defense on the field for about 22 minutes straight. Which is how they got back in that game. And that's just the most obvious example. And why did that happen? Because none of our WRs could get open before the rush made Pat move/run/throw it away.

I'm just stating facts, brother. Either through FA or the draft, we need at least another JuJu. And, MVS, Toney, Skyy, Gray, Fortson are going to consistently play at a higher level. I think Toney will. Not positive about the others.

Didn't he miss a couple of games, and was hobbled and barely played in a couple of others?

Anyway, stat sheet shows he had quite a few games down the stretch with very few targets so I guess he was active but not particularly effective at times. Whatever.

I like Juju. I just don't like him like $15m or anything like that.

Whichever Tackle you can find that is waaaaay better at pass blocking than run blocking is who the Chiefs should sign if they are signing a free agent. This will help the player be cheaper yet still be valuable due to our scheme. Being a plus athlete at the position will also help when we run gadget shit, screens and when Mahomes starts to freelance.

My bad. I forgot Philly declined his option last Spring.

Free agent he is.

Elite pass blocker. Light in the ass in the run game. Couldn’t crack Eagles starting 5
