Very different, and it would be a bit confusing if he needed 100 percent FiO2 (room air is 21 percent O2). You typically see increased O2 requirements with pulmonary or systemic issues.

30-50 percent fiO2 is a more typical initial setting

This is definitely more in BRC territory than mine.

Him only needing ventilator support for 50% of his breath could really indicate that they are beginning to win sedation.

A lot to digest, so I’m just trying to think out loud a little.

*****edit after reading about arresting twice and proning*****

Hearing that he arrested twice and they are proning him (positioning on his stomach) is a little concerning to hear.

Maybe they really are weaning the FIO2 and had him at 100 percent.

Yeah. The tweet made it sound like he’s stable at 50% so they’ll slowly lower it and watch vitals. Sort of like any wake up from surgery but probably slower. She gives 50-60% oxygen to start most surgeries so his amount of 50% is a good place to be.

Please tell your wife it is not lost on me, and I'm sure most of us, how heroic everyone in the medical profession is. I mean those medical professionals jumped right to work while everyone else (me included) watched in shock. Saved that kids life on the field. I work in the health care world (Admin, not hero work) and I emailed all the actual heroes that work for me this morning to remind them how amazing they are and how the work they do is never to be taken for granted.

I heard a TV reporter that he had fluid in his lungs. Could be why he was placed on his stomach.

Thought that was typical after CPR? The fluid, I mean.

I saw that on one tweet from a rando. I’m not sure the arresting twice is credible.
