Raiders win puts another market in the playoffs. New stadium & new market. Steelers win because they are NFL elite. Titans win & Chiefs win. Chiefs in the WC round is huge ratings win for the NFL. Much like 2018 the Chiefs will still host another AFC Championship game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I believe it's about matchups and the ratings and revenue generated from the matchup strength in relation to TV viewing.
TEN (W) @ HOU- Let's face it, the likelihood of Tannehill throwing 4 interceptions again is probably low. Plus, the Texans only had 190 total yards against Tennessee's 420 in their first matchup. It would take an incredible feat by the refs to throw this one hard enough for Houston to win and does the NFL want the Bengals or Chiefs holding the 1 seed? IND (W) @ JAX - There are repercussions if Indy would lose to the worst team in the NFL but I doubt the NFL needs it. What advantage do weak Steelers and Ravens teams have in the playoffs? There aren't ratings win there. The Colts win as they should and will end up the 6th or 7th seed depending on the rest. KC (W) @ DEN - If KC wins, they retain the 2 seed, which could provide some matchups the NFL will want if they are here. NYJ @ BUF (W) - I think it's certain that if NE, BUF, and CIN all win, BUF and NE play each other in the opening round. That's not ideal for ratings since you're only catering to the Northeast. The NFL needs fans in multiple zones tuning in so something has to crumble. MIA handed NE a loss in week 1 and could do so again at home. Meanwhile, it would take a Herculean effort for the Jets to upset the Bills. I got the Bills winning and securing the 3 or 4 seed. LAC @ LV (W) - If the Raiders win, they could get the 5th seed if NE loses and they could be the 6th seed. The Chargers would bump in as the 7th seed unless BUF somehow loses. I don't know if the NFL wants a Chargers vs Chiefs rematch in the opening round and the real question is which franchise would be better for ratings? The Raiders have a much bigger following nationwide. I think the NFL helps the Raiders in. NE @ MIA (W) - Upset alert. If the Raiders beat the Chargers, I can't imagine they want IND vs KC. NE against KC in the opening round is a matchup with a little recent history which could give a little rating boost. If this gets coupled with a CIN loss to CLE, that pushes BUF to the 3 seed against IND which provides a nice scenario in the cold and a potential IND vs TEN matchups in the 2nd round. CIN @ CLE (W) - Another upset alert. The Browns aren't playing for anything but they are playing at home and provide a problem for CIN. With everything else above, CIN would end up at home against the Raiders in round 1 which has the potential to be a great matchup. CIN and LV played it close for 3 quarters in November before the wheels came off in the 4th for the Raiders where they gave up 19 points and lost by the same. Meanwhile, the Chargers smoked the Bengals and the world may want to see another Bengals vs Chiefs game. Cleveland gets a little help. So, I have... 1. TEN 2. KC 3. BUF 4. CIN 5. LV 6. IND 7. NE Wild Card Round 1. TEN - BYE 7 NE @ 2 KC (W) - NE will keep things in check with their defense, which is playing great. That won't be enough and the NFL will likely want Mahomes in round 2, especially if they can ensure a rematch against the Bills and push for another against Cincy. 6 IND @ 3 BUF (W) - BUF has been up and down all year but the one team that absolutely smashed them in Buffalo was Indy when Taylor ripped off 185 yards and 4 TDs on the ground and got a 5th TD receiving. The NFL should want this rematch and the Bills should too, but will the outcome be different? The NFL can help push for another exciting matchup between BUF and KC, which will be far better than TEN v IND while saving CIN v KC for the AFC title showdown. 5 LV @ 4 CIN (W) - CIN is a nice shiny new object for the NFL to put on display and their high-flying offense can be problematic. The Raiders played them tough for 3 quarters earlier in the season so this one could be good, that said the NFL will want Burrow vs Mahomes part II and CIN has to win to either get that in the Divisional round or get it in the AFC title bout. Divisional Round 4 CIN (W) @ 1 TEN 3 BUF @ 2 KC (W) As I alluded to, Burrow v Mahomes Part II is as exciting as it gets for the NFL. AFC Championship 4 CIN @ 2 KC I'll visit the NFC tomorrow and the who and why for the SB. |

I don’t think the whole thing is rigged/scripted, there’s too many moving parts for that, but I do think certain teams are favoured in certain games and the refs are ‘leaned on’ a little
I happen to know an international rugby referee who refereed a rugby World Cup final. The night before the game he met with the president of the country that was hosting the tournament and had their team in the final. The president asked the ref who he thought would win the game. “I don’t know, both teams are good and well matched” he replied. “You don’t understand, My team will win tomorrow” was the response. My pal started laughing but the guy was 100% serious. Fortunately for him there were no tight calls to make and the ‘right’ team won anyways. This is obviously not evidence that the NFL is rigged or any other BS but if you believe there isn’t pressure on refs and they aren’t given some instruction before certain games then you’re naïve to say the least. |

I dont think they would anyways...these aren't the type of people you want to piss off. This aspect alone dictates there are elements to the profession that would be financially damaging if made public....it's the very reason for them. What is not typical is those being implemented for something as trivial as regulating penalties on a football team...it's usually reserved for protecting "trade secrets". They are vetted anyway... NFL has a NYC command center with a direct line to the on field officials... Does anyone remember Goodell being asked about updating the tech..to be on par with other sport leagues. He replied that "human error is woven into the fabric of American football"....essentially saying officiating mistakes (judgement calls) were part of the package and they had no plans to change that aspect. This reply only makes sense if there is a hidden benefit from said mistakes...it's worth noting that other leagues are officially/legally "Sports"...NFL is legally entertainment. There is no legal requirement to produce a fair contest. Last edited by BlackOp; 01-07-2022 at 02:53 AM.. |

That's the crux of it. The NFL doesn't even pretend to be anything BUT entertainment.

From their logo to the draft process...to being associated with geographical areas (cities/communities). The whole production...really...even have a commissioner. On the surface they appear identical...until you dig into the legal aspects and the gambling origins. MLB and the NFL are not the same thing...technically or legally. MLB can face financial repercussions and class-action lawsuits. NFL can do whatever it wants...as long as it fulfills it's stated purpose of "entertainment"...whatever that is. Face it...the NFL IS very entertaining...it delivers what it's designed to do. People dont really care if they are being tricked...their team (real or not) represents their city/culture. NFL lawyers might be correct...the average fan would still watch even if they knew the truth...they still pack arenas for the WWF. It's escapism...it's the modern coliseum. Shit..I still watch it...albeit with about 10% of the enthusiasm I once had. Last edited by BlackOp; 01-07-2022 at 03:56 AM.. |

Why not left of to chance?
Do I think refs have favorites? sure. I do not think that NFL games are rigged, I am not sure there are enough facts out right now to say for sure that games are rigged. Now, if we were talking about WWE I would agree cause they are rigged. |

If you track the Chiefs 2021 history...you'll notice they only lost to AFC teams. 3 of which are now division winners.
This year of photo finishes/WC births in the final week was only made possible by this anomoly....yet somehow they are still ranked as the top AFC team by the pundants. What's the over/under on how many passes Mahomes throws in the dirt once the post-season begins? It only began this year...I cant remember him ever doing this in the previous 3 seasons... |

Tuck rule game wasn't about Brady. Al Davis was suing the other owners that season.
