Just tell the goddamn story from the video game. Expand it out and whatever. Don't add in all the ****ing bullshit crazy virus from hell crap. Don't make The Rock the bad guy. Make it Doom guy vs actual ****ing demons.

Keep one part of the movie in, though. Where they come across the BFG for the first time and call it a "bio force gun" or some shit and then shoot it and the Rock goes, "That's a big ****ing gun!" That was cute. Keep that in there.

Done correctly, that could be pretty epic. The Doom lore is awesome. The story writes itself. Just tearing through space demons to stay alive. Gotta get Mick Gordon to do the soundtrack though....

It was The Avengers except with classic novel characters. It could be interesting, but I'm afraid there's not much market for it anymore. They've tried to reboot the Universal Monsters recently with The Mummy, Dracula: Untold, Wolfman, etc. and it bombed.

Universal’s latest Wolfman movie starring Ryan Gosling looks to be gaining momentum as the studio has zeroed in on a director that knows the Oscar-nominated actor’s work very well. Sources tell Deadline that Derek Cianfrance, who teamed with Gosling on the dramas Place Beyond the Pines and Blue Valentine, is in talks to direct a new take on the studio’s classic monster character.

Cianfrance steps in for Leigh Whannell, who parted ways with the project earlier this year due to scheduling. Gosling, Ken Kao and Jason Blum are producing, and Cianfrance is penning the script.

It’s unknown what the new take on Wolfman will look like, though it is believed to be a modern take and not a period piece like the one starring Benicio Del Toro. Gosling pitched the idea and the take fell in line with the studio’s new vision for its monster movies. Universal had originally planned on creating an interconnected universe with its vast catalog of monster IP. However, the studio reassessed after The Mummy with Tom Cruise misfired, and decided to move forward with filmmaker-driven projects based on the monsters’ legacies, focusing on what made the characters endure over time. Instead of prescribing a mandate that the films be part of a larger scheme, Universal loosened those restrictions and open-sourced to talent to create their own unique stories.

Gosling is a brilliant young actor and is usually really really good at picking his projects (with the exception of the gawd awful Gangster Squad movie. )He has turned down so many big roles over the years so this is a big deal.
He's been killing it since 2010 (Drive is my favorite film since the year 2010 and Blade Runner 2049 is my 2nd favorite film since the year 2010 which both have Gosling as the lead)

If anyone hasn't seen Blue Valentine or The Place Beyond the Pines (Gosling was Oscar worthy in both of those imo) definitely give them a watch. Clanfrance directing a horror film about a werewolf sounds incredible and am also glad its going to be set in present day.

Judging by the cringe worthy awful trailers and terrible reviews, I will add Uncharted to the list. Tom Holland is an annoying little twat and by the trailers he is portraying Nathan Drake like his annoying take on Peter Parker/Spider twerp. That's not a good thing at all.

Hollywood royally ****ed up and imo should have let Joe Carnahan (Narc, The Grey, Smokin Aces , Stretch and the most recently underrated Cop Shop) direct this with his awesome sounding hard R script (with most likely Chris Pine cast as Nathan Drake and Liam Neeson as Sully) oh what could have been. smh

Here's Carnahan's approach to tackling the script:

"When I wrote “Uncharted,” I didn’t spare the rod. I wrote it the way the video game is. They swear in the game, they’re kinda foul-mouthed and I kept all that stuff intact and I definitely didn’t write it as a “PG-13” movie, I wrote it the way that movie should be written."

A great way to distance Uncharted from the Indiana Jones comparison is to make its hero stand apart from the most popular action-movie archaeologist ever. Here are Carnahan's thoughts on that front:

"Listen, I’m a huge Indiana Jones fan, which was one of my interests in it and you have to remember you’ve got Sully as well, so it’s more of a buddy situation than just Drake solo. You have this kind of Hope & Crosby, “Road to Morocco” kind of thing, so it’s not a straight Indy lift. Drake is not a guy who likes museums. He thinks they’re all crooked. Curators are “thieves,” the guys in the Louvre and The Met are thieves and despicable. He’s a treasure hunter, not an archaeologist. He doesn’t have Indiana Jones’ idea of pure faith in archaeology. That’s not the way he thinks. It differentiates, and in the script there are deliberate differentiations. He has a line where he says, “They’re gonna be looking at real booby traps, not rolling boulder bullsh*t.” (laughs) [“Raiders of the Lost Ark”] is still arguably my favorite movie of all-time, but it was necessary to create those distinctions. I think Amy Hennig did it when she wrote the game. She made Drake very much an anti-Indiana Jones, you know? Don’t forget, for that first game after that pirate attack, Drake and Sully leave Elena behind, they dump her. Indiana Jones would never do something like that. That’s a rogue act, so she was declaring very early on who that guy was. He was not Jones, he was not to be confused with that guy."


As well known as Uncharted is for its (anti)hero, it's also renowned for its intense action sequences. Expect that to translate to the big screen:

"I probably wrote four of the biggest, f***in’ craziest action sequences I think I’ve ever written in that movie. I used the “Uncharted” games as a template but not using any one specifically, because those sequences have already been done beautifully. There’s no point in just transposing them to film, you’ve gotta come up with new sh*t, so that’s what I did. It was a great challenge but it was a lot of fun."
