Off-season WR possibilities

Seeing a lot of teams with sub .500 records with WRs that need to get with Mahomes.

Who is available and who would you like to see us pursue to go with Rice and Watson.

If I'm guessing, they'll try to fix their cap by extending Tua, restructuring Chubb, and cutting Ogbah and Baker loose, then trading Ramsey for a soda and popcorn if they can.

The Browns might try to trade Amari Cooper and the 49ers might do well to move Brandon Aiyuk.

Cooper might come relatively cheap given he's going on 30, has 20m per for the next 2 years, and the Browns don't save any more by cutting him versus trading him. Cleveland doesn't have much draft capital this year (a 2, 3, 5, and 6 with all being late picks) so they may take whatever capital they can get within reason. Throwing a 3rd at them might be a decent short-term investment.

The 49ers will be a curious case to watch. They could cut Arik Armstead or Trent Williams with a June 1 designation or they could trade Aiyuk to give themselves some cap relief. Hell, they could do any combination of the 3 depending on how much they want to reload. They may opt to trade Aiyuk for a 1st rounder and then try to move for a LT to replace Williams and cut him loose. Not ideal for KC to trade a 1 and pay a WR when this draft sets them up well just to draft one in the 1st if they want.
Cooper would be a huge get but I think they like him too much in Cleveland.

I hope I'm wrong tho.

Cap issues for them coming up and restructuring Watson is likely to worsen them in 25 and 26, plus it's the final year of Cooper's deal before it voids.

Guys, when proposing these 'trades' for WR's (or any player, really) the first question you should ask yourself is:

If I were that team's GM, would I do this trade?

Because if you can't honestly say yes to that question, then it's probably not worth typing.

It’s not my favorite option but the most likely scenario continues to be signing Mooney and taking a WR in the first round. And a TE at some point in the early draft. If we hit on the draft pick it’s a huge upgrade while being resourceful with our $. Also feel like we need to aggressively look for some type of weapon in the late draft. Somewhat of a rb/wr speed option.

I can’t see a scenario where we rely only on the draft for offensive weapons. Veach knows he can’t sell that to the fan base and mahomes one more year.

I also wouldn’t rule out a lot of movement in the FA at WR. Been saying all year the wr market is due for a massive reset.

Pickens is the exact same problem we already have with Toney. Elite talent, seemingly not that committed to the game.

If the only moves they make in the WR room is signing Mooney and drafting a WR, there will be a riot at One Arrowhead Drive lol...

With the issues this group has had at WR and how Pat clearly feels about it.....I think it's a bit naive to think they'll just sign a mid tier FA and draft a guy and run back most of it.

Free Agent WRs ask/cost too much because they are free agents.

^If you let Jones & Sneed go (also assuming MVS) you have like $65m to spend, if you keep one or both you're probably more likely to go 1st RD WR.

Lockett's too good to let go even if you're cap strapped, owe him $15m, and need a QB.

I think they'd be able to pick up his contract and trade him for something, no?

Yeah I’ve been as vocal as anyone that we need WR help. But I’m ok if we want to do this with the draft as long as we’re aggressive and we nail the evaluation.

If we can get a legit first round WR then that alone helps a ton, and Mooney is just a cherry on top. It’s a hell of a risk because that draft pick better hit and he better be nfl ready. But if it hits then veach looks like a genius. But yeah if we don’t nail the draft pick… wooo buddy

Isn't Lockett like 35? He's not doing what hes done in the past this year either.

But the wr market is due for a reset.

A lot of vet WRs got really overpaid because so so many QBs were underpaid with most on rookie contracts. These year QBs are probably overpaid.

We also saw a huge influx of draft wr talent. They’re gonna get paid big time.

So a lot of teams have WRs they can’t afford (or soon can’t afford). I also think young WRs are seeing bad qb situations as bad for their career. The WR market is due for a big time reset
