So the wording of that article is...interesting...
They may have to keep him because of his contract. Then it says "the 49ers can’t cut Ford until he can pass a physical". In the source article, they talk more about the contract but later in this article, they explicitly mention the injury guarantee but not in the above sentence. So is it because of his contract that he must pass a physical? The articles don't say that. Or is it because the team can't cut somebody that isn't healthy (the same thing we're arguing about with Fisher)? |

i read it as he has to be able to pass a physical, before the 9ers can cut him.
so essentially, he has to be "healthy" for them to be able to cut him. Him and Sammy Watkins should do an infomercial "how to get paid full-time money, for part-time work"

That's what isn't clear. They said his contract will make it hard. Then said he can't be cut until cleared. And THEN said "his contract" is guaranteed. So the first sentence seems to imply that it is the cause of the 2nd sentence. But the 3rd sentence explicitly mentions the contract while the 2nd sentence doesn't, so again, it's worded poorly. |

They’ll try to do an injury settlement, but usually when players take those it’s bc they have the leverage and the team pays quite a bit more in the settlement for them to go.
So basically SF is ****ed either way

People are saying the Chiefs can cut Fisher without a settlement. I don't think they can. (Well I mean they can, and then there's likely be a battle with Fisher about money and medical care). |

It doesn't explicitly say that his contract prevents him from being cut, though. I mean yeah, it could be read that way but damn, they could have made it a whole lot more clear too. |

I finally found something, although it isn't perfect either.
It appears the team is on the hook for payout (not the contract) if they cut a player that can't pass a physical. Which means absent an injury settlement where both sides agree, teams CAN cut injured players, they just have to pay them a predetermined amount. https://www.monstersandcritics.com/s...an-in-the-nfl/ Quote:

They'd probably still have Buckner if not for Ford. What a kick in the teeth
