*****Official 2025 Royals Season Repository Thread*****

Coming off an American League Divisional Series appearance, its year 3 of Matt Quatraro tenure. Can they take the next step to a division title? Can Bobby Witt, Jr. take his superstar status to another level? Can Cole Ragans develop more? Will the other starting pitching duplicate last season? The offense can it deliver more? Who will be in the outfield? How about the new stadium development?

yeah, I wonder if he was a bit amped up trying to press a bit playing in front of a new hometown crowd. There were definitely people excited to see him and lined up along the berm trying to catch a homerun.

And it was really the off speed stuff that was throwing him off. Several times was was ahead and chasing pitches below the zone. Will be interesting to see if he bounces back from that and hits three homeruns tonight.

I mean, he’s going to have lots of nights like that in the bigs. He’s probably a 200 strikeout guy. But if he hits 30-50 HRs a year……you take the bad with the good.

While I think 200 strikeouts are in the realm of possibility, Jac's 21% strikeout rate in the minors doesn't scream 200 strikeout guy. He has made strides there compared to what the reports said about him at Florida.

But it's a big jump between facing the puss throwing minor league pitchers and big league hurlers, so I could see that strikeout rate shoot way up in the majors.

Man I really hit a nerve with Petro with what I said on his pod about Caglione…

Sam McDowell at least somewhat understood what I was trying to say.

I should call in to Petro’s show lol…

Today on MLB Network Radio's Power Alley, host Mike Ferrin pretty much said that the talent in now in Double-A and that Triple-A is watered down because major league clubs aren't keeping arms down there that can help them.

Jac is only going to learn how to hit big league pitching by facing it.

I guess the question is when do the Royals feel comfortable with Jac making that transition without him getting too shellshocked by the steep curve.

Nick Kurtz, from the same draft class with a power-hitting profile at a corner infield spot, was called up to Sacramento by the Athletics on April 21. His first 60 plate appearances were an adjustment, but he was starting to go on a home run tear before injuring his hip and going on the IL. There's a lot of positive to take away from Kurtz that Jac could make the transition and make an impact in his first 100 PA. Kurtz came out of the high-level ACC and Jac faced even superior SEC pitching.

And Kurtz struck out 26.8% of the time at Triple-A Las Vegas. He was having more swing and miss issues than Jac and the A's felt comfortable enough to move him up.

If you think Jac is ready, you have to watch how he does against the major league quality Triple-A pitchers. The depth guys that are filling out the Triple-A roster don't matter. If he goes deep off a guy with an 89 mph fastball, who cares. Like for instance, if he goes 3-for-3 with two home runs against St. Paul's David Festa, then I would like call him up tomorrow.

You know who else is a 200K guy in the Bigs?

Aaron Judge.

His best season he struck out 208 times.

In his 3 best seasons in baseball, he's struck out 208 times, 175 times and 171 times.

In other words . . . . . bring on the strikeouts. Don't care.

As long as he produces for this lineup with power numbers consistently, ZERO shits given.

I wouldn't say one 200+ k season makes him someone known for striking out 200+ times a year.

Speaking of Judge. The ****ing dude is just hitting out of his God damn mind right now and is easily the #1 player in baseball. We're right at 1/3 of the way through the season and he is hitting .395/.488/.746/1.234. He's hitting like roided out Barry Bonds right now. ****, you could say what he's doing is more impressive than what Bonds is doing, because Judge isn't gonna have 200 walks a season to inflate his OBP.

Judge's BABIP is ****ing .467. So basically if he puts it in play he's almost got a 50/50 chance of it being a hit. An entire 1/3 of a season is over and he's got a BABIP that high.

Right now he's 73 points higher than his best BA, OBP is 30 points higher than his best, and his slg is 45 points higher than his career high.

Is he juicing?

Zumwalt was super highly regarded when he came here. I think he got a lot of good results from a few different players his first year with the big league club.
