*****Official 2025 Royals Season Repository Thread*****

Coming off an American League Divisional Series appearance, its year 3 of Matt Quatraro tenure. Can they take the next step to a division title? Can Bobby Witt, Jr. take his superstar status to another level? Can Cole Ragans develop more? Will the other starting pitching duplicate last season? The offense can it deliver more? Who will be in the outfield? How about the new stadium development?

These 2025 Royals swing at some of the worst pitches known to man.

This just drives me crazy. Let a pitch right down the middle go by, and then swing at a coupe balls way out of the zone. I know that pitchers get paid to do this, but some of these swings are real head scratchers.

In his 3 best seasons in baseball, he's struck out 208 times, 175 times and 171 times.

In other words . . . . . bring on the strikeouts. Don't care.

As long as he produces for this lineup with power numbers consistently, ZERO shits given.
Obivously, Jac is 6-foot-5 with a big strike zone and he trades swing-and-miss for slug, so strikeouts come with the territory.

He's still going to have more success if his strikeout rate settles in the 27-28% range where sluggers like Gunnar Henderson, Austin Riley and James Wood sit.

Out of the top 30 hitters in wRC in baseball, none of them have a strikeout rate in the 30% range and none in the top 20 are above 28%.

Judge hasn't struck out 200 times since he was a rookie and the key point with him is that he adjusted and dropped his strikeout rate below 22%. He's also an outlier as the best hitter on the planet.

Speaking of Judge. The ****ing dude is just hitting out of his God damn mind right now and is easily the #1 player in baseball. We're right at 1/3 of the way through the season and he is hitting .395/.488/.746/1.234. He's hitting like roided out Barry Bonds right now. ****, you could say what he's doing is more impressive than what Bonds is doing, because Judge isn't gonna have 200 walks a season to inflate his OBP.

Judge's BABIP is ****ing .467. So basically if he puts it in play he's almost got a 50/50 chance of it being a hit. An entire 1/3 of a season is over and he's got a BABIP that high.

Right now he's 73 points higher than his best BA, OBP is 30 points higher than his best, and his slg is 45 points higher than his career high.

Is he juicing?
Obviously, I’m not saying Jac is gonna become Judge. What I am saying is that I’m happy to take on a boatload of K’s from him IF it comes with consistent power production in the middle of our lineup, whenever he eventually gets up here.

Regarding Judge:

1. In addition to being really ****ing good, he’s also been really ****ing lucky this year.

Do I think he’s juicing like Bonds? No. Dude is just a big ****er and has always been. Way different body type than Bonds. Probably part of the reason he’s been so prone to injuries over the course of his career.

Vinny is headed in the right direction though. He's hitting .309 over his last 30 games and has a .818 OPS over that time as well. There is just something ****ed up with his approach and it's caused him to only walk 4 times in the last 30 games and strikeout 21 times. He also isn't hitting with a ton of power. He's got 1 double and 2 HRs since May 5th.

He went from a super patient guy to Salvy over the course of a few years. It's really ****ed up his hitting and without that elite plate discipline it's gonna be really hard for him to reach anywhere near his full potential.

I did a post on it recently. He went from having more walks to strikeouts to basically being Salvy.

Looks like Lugo will be back Friday to start the series against Motown. Nice to have him back for a series where it would be really nice to take at least two at home against those mofos.

And man, after tonight, I'm pretty much sold on Cameron sticking around, and pushing Lorenzen to the 'pen when Ragans returns in the next week or two. Dude has been positively stellar in the early returns, and if he does indeed stick, and keeps up even close to this pace, we've got a ROY candidate, and probably two when Jac gets called up and hits .400 with 40 homers to close out the end of June to September.
