Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

I might have to hit you up, Frazod; I'm considering an AR build in the next year-ish.
really liked how yours turned out, and -like you at the time- don't have any experience with AR or building weapons etc. |

Well, don't consider me an expert by any means, but I'd be happy to offer any advice I can. I've certainly learned a lot over the past year.

absolutely; not looking for an expert, but someone that's been in the weeds with a build would be extremely valuable from an advice standpoint. Really impreassed that you were able to build one w/no experience etc.
...now I just gotta figure out what kind of shooting I want to do with it. lol. that outta take me 6 months. lol Last edited by Dayze; 10-10-2011 at 09:09 PM.. |

Nearly perfect day today, so I decided to call up my dad and give the Texas Weapon System AK rail a try today on my Saiga .308.
Installation was a breeze until I had to mount my Nikon scope. The front of the scope was too large and it bumped the top of the TWS mount, even with high clearance mounting hardware. ****! Thankfully, my father is ready for a brigade of zombies to invade SW Kansas. He had an extra Leupold 14x just "sitting around". We did a quick check, and sure enough it was within a **** hair of touching the TWS rail mount, but still fit. Off to the range. Well, what can I say? It sucked ass. 5" MOA was the best I could muster (100 yards), minus a lot of fliers, even after shooting 2 1/2 to 3" groups with the iron sites a few months ago. Conclusion: A Saiga .308 simply is NOT made to handle a scope IMO. It is a 200 and in gun, period. I know the AK guys will attack me to no end, telling me I can't shoot for shit or that I didn't mount it right, but we tried EVERYTHING to get this to work. On a high note, to build my confidence back up my dad brought out his 24" DPMS AR-15 with JR trigger. Less then 1/2" groups at 100 and less then 2" groups at 300 . I even did a sitting free-style shot and hit a 3x3 target at 300. It is obvious to me that I will probably go to a 24" DPMS .308 with bipod. My Saiga will turn into a conversation piece, only to be brought out to be scorned. Last edited by notorious; 10-11-2011 at 06:30 PM.. |

Stolen off the THR
I thought some of you might like a look at the grand daddy of the Stoner design notice where the charging handle is in the original design. It was moved to where it is today do to sustained fire making it to hot to touch. Opps SP-1 was,& will always be a beautiful weapon.

Okay, I'm moving onward and upward in the optics department. The next addition to the rifle will be a Trijicon ACOG 4x32. And they are ****ing pricey.
So, I'm going to try to unload some of my AR stuff to help pay for it. Available items are: Bushnell red dot mentioned a few posts below. Dunit has first dibs on it, but if he passes I'm asking $60. My whole Lucid set up, which includes the red dot, a 2x screw-in magnifier, and 5x magnifier with a flip-to-the-side mount. Asking $300 for the whole bunch. Pistol-style hand grip with trigger activator for tactical flashlight, along with the flashlight. Pictured below. Asking $100 for the pair. http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/attac...4&d=1301707098 UTG two piece quad rail system. Asking $30. If anybody's interested, drop me a PM or post here. |

Well, my Zombie Killer has officially arrived at the Next Level.
Trijicon ACOG 4x32 TA31 RCO, Army Special Commission. Don't even ****ing ask what I paid for it. And please, somebody buy the stuff in the previous post - I need to mitigate the damages here. Prices are negotiable - make me an offer. |
