I believed wholeheartedly that Heyward would finally play up to his potential.

Turns out the other Braves outfielder traded during the offseason is giving the Padres the performance we were hoping to get from Heyward. Justin Upton batting 4th in this lineup would have been an incredible boost. Hell, Upton even has 9 SBs to 0 CS. And I'm sure the Cards had their pick of guys in that deal. Mozeliak bet on the youth and higher ceiling over the more sure thing in Upton. Unfortunately, that came up snakeyes.

The logic behind the trade was good. The talent acquired was perfect for what we do (run prevention and a focus on avoiding negative outcomes offensively). At some point, however, the player has to actually play. I don't blame Mozeliak for this one - I blame Heyward.

He has a new trick I noticed this weekend - his top half is WAY behind his bottom half now. He's firing his hips through and then dragging his arms behind it. So in essence, he's getting no power from his legs at all.

In the words of the immortal Roy 'Tin Cup' McAvoy - Jason Heyward's swing is as graceful as an unfolding lawn chair at this point. In the event he actually fixes one of the gliches in it, he'll add another one. It's arguably the worst swing I've ever seen from a regular in that it appears that every single facet of it is wrong. I'm actually amazed he's been able to provide what little production he has to this point.

Id think that he's produced what he has just shows how talented he is naturally.

He just gets himself out way too often On pitches he should be hitting. Harper was getting blasted inside this weekend, opened his hips and drove it down the rf line for a double. There's no reason, from a pure talent perspective, Heyward can't be harper lite.

seems he's in between a few concepts in terms of attacking thr baseball.

Now Marco has some shoulder issues, which isn't good.

It'd too bad Amaro wants half our farm for Cole.

Pure dumb luck suggests that someday Amaro will get what he's asking for in a trade.

His M.O. is to pretty much hold onto guys until they have no value left and he's trading them for A ball relievers, but someday, pure random chance will have somebody meeting his absurd asking price for somebody.

At least, I think this is his operating assumption at this point.

Oh I'm sure that's what he's holding out for. He's bombed every other opportunity to extract value for them in the past so he kind of has to play this one out like he is. It helps that Cole os on quite the roll right now, but I just don't see people moving what he wants, especially with how prospects are viewed now.

That error was definitely on Reynolds. Throw was way behind Garcia.

Heyward even ****ing sucks defensively.

Not sure what Captain Concussion was doing leaving Belisle in for 3 innings, either.

Or bringing in Maness here after he's been up 3 times already today. Has to be gassed.

Kind of amazing to win a game with three errors after they stopped scoring in the 4th inning.

Adams' fat ass needs to go down to AAA anyway, so putting him on DL will at least allow him to save some face.
