Alex Smith is a solid QB, sorry haters. Bucs win 5th game in a row.

Despite the common thought here that Alex Smith held down the team Sunday, Smith's overall production to the team yesterday graded out very positive in 3 rankings:
Smith: QBR 94.1, QB rating 99, PFF 71.9
Winston: QBR 83.6, QB rating 97, PFF 50.7

https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro...-for-bucs-win/

"Smith gained positive expected points (EPA) on 77 percent of his plays on Sunday, the second-highest rate for a QB in a game this season (Dak Prescott, 83 percent versus Chicago in Week 3). Put simply, more than three-fourths of his plays contributed to the team’s scoring margin, given the context and situation." - http://www.espn.com/blog/statsinfo/p...s-excels-again

This is why we should use our brains instead of repeating the garbage fed to us by Mellinger and Teicher. If Smith only had 34 plays yesterday to do something with the ball and earns both a rushing and passing TD, a FG, to 1 INT (first red zone interception since 2013) and completes an outstanding 77% of passes ... we should probably focus on the real problem yesterday: The Defense. Who didn't show up and allowed Winston/Martin to hold the ball for 35 minutes, earn 24 first downs, and convert 68% of 3rd downs (league average is 40%).

Against the Bucs...

Alex Smith: 1 INT, 99 QB rating
Philip Rivers: 2 INTs, 80 QB rating
Russell Wilson: 2 INTs, 39 QB rating
Drew Brees: 3 INTs, 49 QB rating

Why is it that when the Chiefs lose, Chiefs Planet itself becomes so full of glorious, pinpoint accuracy WIN in terms of defining the problem that causes the losing? Why is this?

The run offense & defense has been pathetic. It's those reasons that the Chiefs aren't a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Alex Smith is further down the list. Andy's play calling is higher than Alex Smith. The last few games has shown to me that when Alex Smith lets it go the Chiefs have a deep passing game. Andy just needs to let him chuck it deep occasionally & to get the ball to Tyreek & Kelce more.

It's truly sad that Alex looks worse this year when he has:

-by far the best OL since he's been here, which has been solid.
-by far the best weapons overall since he's been here.
-3 consecutive seasons with this coaching staff going into this season.

This team is driven by a strong defense and turnover points from the defense/ST's.

It's time to get rid of Alex and find a new QB. There's no way in hell Alex is a $16 million QB. He plays a couple of good games and then shits the bed. He's not consistent at all.

More like, he will play a couple of good quarters in a 2-3 game stretch and then leaks Nestle syrup all over the bed.

Either Parker Ehinger being the linchpin of the offense and the total not-a-concussion that Smith had were totally career changing events...

.. or the "trolls" named keg_in_KC, Hamas, OTWP and duncan were right about the level of success Smith and Reid were likely to achieve almost four years ago.

Consider Maclin has been out since Smith has been back from injury and that we've played some good defenses over that time frame...he's actually been better than most people want to think. He's not at 2015 standards but he's doing well. I don't like Reid's play calling lately and now I'm curious to know how much control Pederson had calling plays last season

I find it hard to believe a rookie guard was the linchpin to our offensive line. I really do.
