In the Biggest Game of the Year, Only One Star Showed Up for the Chiefs

That was the real difference in the game.

Fisher, nominally a Pro Bowler, got whipped all day
Hill and Kelce were complete non factors
Jones and Houston did nothing
Ford did less than nothing

Mahomes had a bottom tier game, but still led two scoring drives down with under four minutes left. He was at his best when it mattered most.

The Chiefs will be back, but their best players can't pull a John Starks in the biggest game of their career.

Fisher ****ing sucks. Our offense didn't do shit in the first half and that's largely due to our line being incapable to block long enough for our receivers to beat the press. **** all of them man, we need to draft some fatties. Can't let Mahomes take the hits he took last night.

On offense, I don't think our playcalling used the talent as much as it should have. And Mahomes in future years will no doubt be able to make the adjustments to get these guys open. Credit to the Pats Defense... I don't have much blame to throw around except for the OL laying a turd last night.

Watkins other than a doink drop was very good
Damien Williams was terrific for the touches he had

Dude completely sacrificed himself for the big hit with that sidearm throwing to Watkins. Kid has balls...

You silly bastards won't give credit to Hoodie but he is one of the best defensive minds in the NFL along with Wade Phillips. Putting 71 points on BB in 2 games this year is amazing. It's just too bad that EB's heel was a topic all ****ing year and they only had one starting caliber CB all season. And no I don't think it was a mistake getting rid of Peters, it was a mistake not getting another a decent replacement for him. Fuller couldn't do it by himself.

Watkins balled out. Really hope we bring him back next season. When healthy he's a legit number 1 WR.

I think I had Dirty Dan in adopt a chief this season (came late to the draft). Who’d have thought he’d be our best player in an AFC champ game!

I'd argue our coaches disappeared also. Reid calls a play on 3rd down, while in FG range, that had no short outlet option. Result? Sack and no FG. Coulda been the difference.

Then Sutton, with less than 50 seconds to go in the first half has one on one coverage when everyone in the damn stadium knew Brady was going to take a shot at the endzone. Of course Bill Belichick had the same scenario at the end of regulation and opted to stack 4 guys in the endzone resulting in a Mahomes throw away.

Those two gaffes, among many other things, caused the loss

Think you're misinterpreting. That's a compliment from the op. Basically saying in one of mahomes' worst games he's played, he still put up one hell of a performance. Even at his worst he was terrific.

When players line up offsides, are out of position or blow coverages on three 3rd & 10s, it’s coaching and lack of discipline/ accountability. All year long. The Chiefs were among the most (the most?) penalized teams in the league. It hardly improved— that’s coaching.

Andy, while a phenomenal offensive mind does not hold people accountable. He has stated that if folks who work for him fail, it’s on him for not being able to properly coach, teach or mentor them.

From casual fans, to former player / broadcast analysts, to proof on the field— our current Defensive Coordinator and his schemes are a liability. To effect change in 2019, he should be terminated.

Andy Reid’s fatal flaw (personally and professionally) is his inability to to enact or enforce discipline. To make the hard call regarding those he is loyal to or even love. Considering the trend of his coaching decisions, it would be illogical to expect him to fire Sutton. The excuse will just be ‘we need better players.’

Belichick did outcoach Reid last night. Their 53 man roster was not demonstrably better than ours. Belichick outcoached Reid starting months, hell even years ago with the way he handles expectation management. I’m not fellating the ‘Patriot Way’ FFS, but Belichick would not have Sutton on his staff. Tyreek Hill would have lost 12 yards on a punt return once earlier in the season, and that would not happen again. Lining up offsides in the AFC Championship? Rookie bullshit.

Andy Reid says ‘we have to learn from this’. He has to learn from this, and at 60 years old I fear he’s a formed person. He is everything he’s going to be.
