What if the Bengals decides to finally move on from Marvin Lewis and the Chiefs hires him as DC in the offseason?

Chiefs left points on the board in the first half, played like garbage on D, and lost on a last second FG.

**** that was fun to watch in the 2nd half. 2 good teams.

Maybe I'm the outlier in that I sit and watch about every game on Sunday, but with how people talk about defenses here I wonder if people only watch the Chiefs.

The Chiefs d isn't good. Not arguable.

But there aren't really good D's anymore. Even "good" defenses get lit up by good offenses.

I think the Ravens D is probably legit, they gave up 34 on the road at Cinci but only 14 to the Steelers. We will see how good they are when we play them later this year but I think they are pretty good.

Good defenses tend to be teams that have played awful offenses too.

Ravens D looks great. They've also played Buffalo and Tennessee, probably the worst offensive teams in the AFC... but they held them to a combined 3 points.

He held the Steelers to 14. The Bengals put up points because Flacco Flacco'd, but they held them under 400 yards. Held the steelers under 300.

The ravens D is good. So far.

Ravens defense just had 11 sacks in one game. And pitched a shutout. Chiefs will be lucky to have 11 sacks all year.

At least in 2003, they waited until November and December to get absolutely gashed for huge plays continuously. This team is ahead of the curve!

The Chiefs defense has allowed more than 500 yards in 3 of their 6 games.

02 and 04 might have been worse. Maybe an argument could be made. 2008 is probably the only clear cut winner. So, I suppose you're right. I'll say, definitively, there has been 1 defense worse than this one in the last 30 years.

A lot of bad defense in the league now. The transformation to arena league is just about complete. Thankfully, we now have a qb who can carry us.

People keep saying there are a lot of bad defenses but that's just an excuse. Scoring is no doubt up and there isn't as much good defense being played in this league, but even then the Chiefs are so far in the back it's not good. They're ranked dead last in yards, near the bottom in points. They've allowed 300 more yards than any other defense, they're on pace to shatter the NFL record for yards allowed. They're 31st in passing yards and offset that by being 31st in yards allowed per carry. Sure there are more shootouts but there's also not many if any teams putting up worse numbers across the board. The teams that usually end up winning it all usually still put up good numbers on the defensive side of the ball relative to the rest of the league.

To be honest the Seahawks and Broncos defenses were great, the Patriots were #1 when they won a couple years ago and the Eagles had a top 5 defense last year. Yeah all those teams won shootouts (except maybe the Broncos) but it doesn't mean they couldn't play D.
