A sneak requires your QB to churn his legs and drive into a pile. The QB's ankles often get all twisted and bent while doing it. On an injured ankle that isn't wise.
Considering Chiefs' luck, it's isn't wise ever. |

The sneak is probably the safest call in all of football to gain 1 yard. I'm in my 6th decade, and Mahomes has to be the only QB I've ever heard or, or seen to get a serious injury on a sneak at any level of football from PeeWee on up. It's gotta be a 1 in a billion odds type of thing.

Going straight ahead does not irritate the ankle it is when you have cut on it.

Really fluky injury. So unfortunate.
Not really a silver lining, but at least the ankle can heal now, too. |

I don’t like the sneak when it’s Mahomes. Maybe if you are like Cam, it’s ok

Is this a thing?
QB sneak is not a risky play. The top QB sneak guy isn't Vick or Cunningham... it's Tom Brady. The most immobile QB ever. It was a freak thing. He landed funny. |

I get that it's a fluke injury, but you protect the Franchise.
Here's the verbatim conversation I had with the guy that I was at the game with: Him: Looks like they got the first down. Me: Yeah. But I don't know about doing quarterback sneaks with Maho - uh oh, someone's down. Him: It's Mahomes. And then after that it was ten minutes of full silence.

Getting a bit urethral here but if Pat's ankle is just a tad stronger, that situation doesn't happen.
No issues with the call. Bet Pat wanted it. |

Mahomes is not the biggest guy, he's nursing a sore ankle for three straight weeks, we're playing on a short Thursday night and the best thing we have is a QB sneak?
Sorry, that call sucked.

On a good left ankle he still gets his right knee hurt. One has nothing to do with the other.
