Superman/Batman movie coming in 2016

---

Quote:
After decades of fighting evil solo, Batman and Superman will finally be teaming up on the big screen, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder will direct the tentpole with Henry Cavill returning as Superman. It is unclear who will play Batman in the new film. A release date of 2015 has been set, with a Flash movie appearing in 2016 and a Justice League movie in 2017.

Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

Quote:
Warner Bros. is about to bring together two of its most iconic heroes: Superman and Batman will unite in a new film, the follow-up to “Man of Steel,” set for release in 2015.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”

“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.

“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.

The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”

In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

Seriously - Superman couldn't find a way to divert Zod into a less populated area? I get that watching 45 minutes of disaster porn is fun and all, but having a random family of four being the line in the sand for Supes to murder after that fight was a bit confusing.
How? I still don't understand people having a problem with the destruction. These are two of the most powerful things in the known universe fighting. Of course there will be A LOT of destruction. And how exactly would Superman get Zod to a less populated area? Ask him? Go there and hope Zod follows him? Zod would just stay in metropolis and continue killing people.

This is exactly the problem. What's supposed to set Kal El apart from Zod and the rest of the Kryptonians still alive is his upbringing and in this version, Pa Kent is (largely) a cowardly piece of shit so I guess it's no wonder why he hardcore executes Zod on his knees..

Apparently people who attended theater trailer screenings tonight saw 5 seconds of footage of Batman and Superman charging each other. Also they got a voucher for a free ticket to see bvssuperman 1 week early and a poster

exactly! I've never understood that argument.

-Superman: "Zod, I care about these people, let's settle this in that field over there."

- Zod: "Oh, my bad! Meet you there in 5?"

This looks bad ass IMO, seems like they're taking him more into the dark comic books than Nolans version... this Batman is bigger, darker, and meaner.

Affleck is going to pleasantly surprise a lot people I bet.

I'm skeptical of anything Ben does in which he does not direct himself. He has a substantial history of crap when he's directed by others. Gone Girl was very good, but Zack Snyder's no David Fincher.

I bet he'll be fine as long as the script is good, this definitely wont be a rental for me, it has a chance to be really awesome.

We'll probably see it in the theater, too. Just saying I'm skeptical, especially of Ben.

This.

Supes is almost an unwinnable character. He was written as part Boy Scout, part Jesus. If you portray him that way, people hate it. If you give him a darker edge, people hate it. If you show him developing his personality (MoS), people hate it. What the **** do people want, really? Honestly, "MoS" and "Smallville" are the more realistic idea of what it would be like. Think about it: you, yourself, grow up pretty well, and suddenly find out you have the powers of a god. Would it really be that easy to suddenly become a do-gooding hero? Dedicate your life to just helping people? Purge yourself of any thoughts of using your powers for selfishness, greed, lust? Take your anger just a little too far? I think the superhuman "nature vs. nurture" discussion was done pretty well with the unheralded film "Chronicle" that came out a while back. That's all these modern directors are doing: exploring HOW Kent makes his choices and becomes Supes.

Superman's Xray vision is a goddamn farce. There's no ability to perceive color, as color is part of the visual optical spectrum. There's no way that Xrays emitted from Superman's eyes could return back to his eyes. There's no way for the Xrays to distinguish between matter that should be transparently seen through, and matter that should be seen. It's ****ing bullshit!
