Mahomes injury updates

Minus whale get this one started.

Quote:
Patrick Mahomes Update

Postgame, Coach Andy Reid confirmed ankle sprain for Mahomes. Don't overlook this injury. By video this is not a standard low ankle sprain. This is a not a standard basketball low inversion sprain with predictable recovery.

By video this was a high ankle sprain. Albeit mild and Mahomes is obviously tough. One needs to wait for to see how much swelling occurs overnight and the next few days.

Will know more in the next few days. Expect some missed practice time and this could slow down the 2018 MVP throughout the month of September.

Because we benefit by winning football games and Mahomes gives us a better shot at that?

And perhaps the re-injury rate finds a floor around 10% from weeks 4 through 8 or something like that?

We barely squeak out a win at home against a team led by Kirk Cousins and you guys don't think we need Mahomes back?

3.5 weeks isn't "rushing" him back.

For all of the glorious things he's done, Mahomes has shown a knack for being a slow starter (slow to get up to speed). I think the Titans game would be a good buffer to get him ready for the Chargers in Mexico.

Moore has been awesome for a backup. Done exactly what you want.

But with the Pats losing and the Chiefs having the schedule they do, you push hard right now to win out.

Win out and you're the 1 seed and every one has to come to your place, which lately I know hasn't been what it once was. But with the defense coming together and getting healthy and the offense being what it can be, you still want it at Arrowhead.

Never take a win for the NFL for granted...if Pat is ready, he plays.

Getting the #2 seed at least is vital...have to go in with the mentality that the final 7 games are all must wins.

Don't kill me! We all want the same thing which is a healthy Mahomes imposing his will on our opponents.
I've been really conservative on this issue. But i don't think you're going to reduce the reinjury risk a whole ton at this point unless you want to hold him out indefinitely which we don't want to do. Stafford came back even sooner on an injury that was probably worse. 3 weeks seems consistent with what other teams have done and I'm thankful the Chiefs waited that long. At this point, I'm doing cartwheels that we ended up 1-1 but I'm not pushing my luck further than that.

I love Andy Reid and what he does with backup qbs. I am not at all surprised we've looked fine behind Matt Moore. But I think we're pushing it if we expect to be anything more than a barely .500 team behind Moore. Let's not forget we had the best offense in the NFL by a mile before Moore.

This all day.

We’ve given him plenty of rest it would seem. If he’s ready, let’s go try to win out and take the easiest path possible.

I would be interested to know the re-injury\dislocation rate if they wait 2 more weeks vs playing him this week. At the very minimum he should be active and be the backup.

If he's active, he's the starter. Why do the whole backup thing? After every punt you'd have guys wanting to put him in.

Seriously. You go the OPPOSITE way.

Start Mahomes, get out to a three score lead, and let Matt Moore hand it off to Williams, Williams, Cambiano and Bryant. Because there's strength in our numbers.
