What Are Your Favorite Instrumentals?

I dig instrumentals. A personal fave is La Villa Strangiato. Turn me onto more please. No Buckethead please. I'm repping.

I was a HUGE Satriani fan - still am, just haven't followed him as closely in the last few years. I even had him autograph a guitar of mine during a closed 50 guest thing at a local guitar shop years ago when he was promoting his new amp model. They closed the store, and we stood there and watched him p lay for a good 45 minutes. Autograph time I ask if he would sign a guitar, which was in my car, and he said 'absolutely, go get it'.

Fantastic idea for a thread. And you guys have really delivered. Lots of great songs. I did see a couple of bands that were chosen but not the songs I would have chosen. Here are some my favorites TSO and DT.

Trans Siberian Orchestra

Love their stuff. Just saw them at Sprint Center on Saturday.

Dream Theater - as someone mentioned, they have a ton of instrumentals from which to choose. Here are a couple of my faves.

Just one more DT instrumental. A bit of a rarity, a song in a video game.

Evan Brewer's "Actualize" - fantastic bass player on Sumerian's lineup of incredible, heady hard rock musicians.

Spencer Elliot's "Torque" - in the mold of Andy McKee-type music. I love the percussive aspect of acoustic guitar, and his beautiful style melds well with lovely melodies.

Other than the Floyd playing "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" live (mostly instrumental) I'd go with Interstellar Overdrive...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
