Keep doubting CEH

Yup, it's time to go there.

Clyde is being sold below guys on our practice squad (mOrE GOre!!). The Mayocks of CP are coming out of the woodwork to revisit the draft and the 'wasted' first round pick on a RB. He's slow. He's unathletic. He has no vision. He can't pass block. He completely sucks.

I'm not sold on this narrative.

Fumble was inexcusable but highly atypical. Guy has struggled with vision this year. But he flashed early last year. He's still figuring out this OL and the Chiefs are still figuring out how to use him in this system. He was named the MVP of the best college (spread) offense I think we might ever see. He has talent. Just needs to re-find his groove.

I'm not giving up on him as we've seen Reid do more with a lot less. And I think Clyde is primed to turn it up from here.

So, not a homer take. Just a take that's being less pessimistic after a difficult loss. Let this be a safe space for those who haven't given up on Clyde.

I believe.

I hope you are correct. My hunch says he is on Andy's crap list and will see limited opportunities.

I'd really like to know why he hasn't even been given a chance to play out of the slot on empty sets. He spent 33% of his time there in college and wasn't exactly a slouch.

Maybe he hasn't "earned" it according to Reid's parameters or whatever.

You still don’t waste first round picks on RB’s.

None of those guys are playing in the most explosive offense in the NFL either. CEH is playing with Mahomes/Kelce/Tyreek and has looked pretty pedestrian all things considered. He shows a flash here and there but so did Darwin Thompson.

In my office/auction league, I ended up with CEH and Gus Edwards. So unfortunately I don't have a viable alternative.

Clyde is small, slow, weak, and blind.

The one thing positive you could say was at least he didnt fumble while doing nothing, but now hes cost us a game.

If Patrick Mahomes one day loses all his nerve, changes to number 11 and checks down every play, Clyde MIGHT have a shot at someone on an opposing defense briefly considering giving 2 shits about him.

But since 15 has balls of steel and intergalactic arm talent, that shit is never gonna happen.

Darrell Williams, scrub, is the better back.

Let’s be honest here. We needed a running back with the whole Kareem hunt situation that went down.

He was the top rated running back in the draft on almost every board and he wasn’t going to be there at #32 in round 2.

I understand the sentiment that you don’t take a RB in round 1, but if you want the best RB coming out of football and you’re picking as late as we are, you’ll never get him unless you use the #32 on him in round 1.

I also remember a lot of people crushing over Clyde last year, saying this was his break our year. I get it, he’s sucking it up big time, and that’s putting it mildly. But it’s game 2. As others have said, I’m not ready to call it quits on him being a serviceable running back for us at a cheap cost. He’s playing on a rookie deal mind you…

I think he still puts up a 1100 yard season on the ground and around 300-400 receiving this year with day 9 touchdowns overall. That’s not horrible but it’s definitely not what we hoped for.

I'd take a healthy, in his prime Spencer Ware over CEH right now and I'm not even close to kidding. There was like a 10 game stretch before he started getting injured where that guy was going gangbuster on the league with freaking Alex Smith at QB. I saw more talent and skill out of Ware for that short stretch than I have out of CEH in his entire tenure so far. That's not a good sign.

As of now, he is right up there with Knile Davis as the worst starting RB in the Reid era, and Davis was only starting due to injury and was a 3rd round pick by the previous regime. People keep making excuses for the guy but in the 1+ seasons he's been here he's had one really good game, and it was in the snow where his complete lack of speed and athletic ability was leveled out. He simply does not have the physical talent to be more than an incredibly average runner in this day and age. He definitely looks much worse since the injury so maybe they aren't being entirely honest about that, but either way he's been given more than a fair chance to shine and hasn't done so at any consistent level.

I haven't totally given up, but I'm damn close. This is an incredibly RB friendly system that has made guys like Spencer Ware and Damien Williams look like superstars at times. It shouldn't be talking this long for him to 'figure things out.'

I've doubted CEH from the second the Chiefs drafted him. I see no reason to stop now...
I'm pulling for the kid, but IMO he's an example of a great college player who is nothing special in the pros. What I don't understand is his measurables were not great, yet the Chiefs drafted him in the 1st round regardless. We're seeing the player that his measurables would suggest we'd see, maybe even a bit worse. So, my doubt is certainly justified thus far.

Clyde was never the #1 rated RB coming out of college. (Think Taylor and Swift were 1 & 2 by most pundits) I believe Clyde was ranked 3 or 4 depending on where you looked. He did play for an incredibly talented LSU National Championship team, which probably made his ranking higher than it should have been.
