Carlos Rogers NOT worth a first round pick (from the KC Star Board)
(Found this over at the KC Star Board, lets see what some of you guys have to say bout it and think.)
There are going to be at least 2 or 3 players that will still be on the board at 15 that should be taken before Rogers. If the Chiefs were to grab this kid, they need to upgrade our second round pick, maybe package it with another mid-round pick to get up to the 30-40 range. Besides, our cornerback issue will more than likely be figured out with a free agent signing. |

Of what he said there may be right cause this draft is loaded with corners like Rolle, Miller, Browner, and Rogers and a few other really good ones.
If there is a position of need guys wouldnt you think it would be corner and that we should address that in the 1st round. I wouldnt mind getting 2 corners in this draft. So which guys that are gonna be in the draft would you want that you think fits GUNS style of play ? |

Ok, here we go, scouting reports on the 3 guys we all like :
First off CB Carlos Rogers from Auburn : Carlos Rogers College: Auburn Height: 6-1 Weight: 194 Position: Cornerback Class: Senior 40-Yard: 4.45 SCOUTING REPORT Strengths: Excellent size and speed for the position...Tough player who will fight through injuries...Great athleticism...Good ball skills and has become a a playmaker as a senior...Has a lot of experience and made an impact early on as a freshman. Weaknesses: Doesn't always play up to his physical tools...Isn't a great tackler...Not very stout against the run...Has a lot of work to do in terms of his technique...Needs to master the nuances of the position rather than relying on his physical gifts so much. Notes: Has just the type of size / speed ratio you are looking for in an NFL corner...A bit of an underachiver throughout his career but came on as a senior...You can bet some team will be more than willing to take a chance on a player with his physical tools and he could go a little higher than his play on the field would suggest. Second off CB Justin Miller from Clemson :
Justin Miller College: Clemson Height: 5-11 Weight: 200 Position: Cornerback Class: Junior 40-Yard: 4.40 SCOUTING REPORT Strengths: Playmaker in the secondary...Has great ball skills and a knack for making the big play...Very good speed and quickness...Fluid hips in coverage...Excellent athletic ability...Has a lot of experience despite being just a true junior...A threat to score every time he touches the ball...Physical and likes to hit...Also a dynamic return man. Weaknesses: Only average size...Had a down year as a sophomore...Gambles too much in an effort to make the big play...Inconsistent and will lose his concentration...Had some off the field problems...Can be too confident for his own good. Notes: Has just about everything the NFL is look for in a top cornerback...Not a finished product by any means, but a playmaker like this won't last long when he enters the draft. |

Thirdly CB Marlin Jackson from Michigan.
Marlin Jackson College: Michigan Height: 6-1 Weight: 196 Position: Cornerback Class: Senior 40-Yard: 4.40 SCOUTING REPORT Strengths: Great size...Excellent athlete...Very physical and aggressive...Good speed with the ability to close in a hurry...Really steps up and rises to the occasion when facing top wideouts. Weaknesses: Had a down junior season when he was moved to safety...Character might be a concern after some off the field troubles in 2003...Inconsistent at times and may lack top awareness. Notes: Bounced back nicely as a senior when he made the move back to his natural cornerback position...Should vie to be either the second or third cornerback off the board come April of '05. |

Here's a mock draft and these are the corners in round 1 and 2 of the NFL Countdown Mock Draft :
CB Antrel Rolle, Miami CB Pac-Man Jones, West Virginia CB Carlos Rogers, Auburn CB Justin Miller, Clemson CB Marlin Jackson, Michigan CB Bryant McFadden, Florida St. CB Eric Green, Virginia Tech CB Corey Webster, L.S.U. And here are the Safeties : S Thomas Davis, Georgia S Ernest Shazor, Michigan S Brodney Pool, Oklahoma S Donte Nickolson, Oklahoma S Michael Huff, Texas What we really need is a CB and a FS, and we could get a DE later but Eric Hicks is not gonna be replaced and is not as bad as some think. |

Rogers, no way. Miller would be my second pick with Jackson the first. Rolle is already taken. |
