I totally agree with that. It's why I think they should have Shaun Smith in KC TONIGHT and signed by now.

TBH I think that should be the case even if the injury didn't happen to GD.

I can't figure out why the guy isn't on a roster somewhere. Do we know that he's in playing shape?

I remember commenting that he looked like a bowling ball with a head. But he was nasty, and this D needed a little nasty.

i read it on the Titans board, show up at the end of summer so out of shape to camp that the Titans flat out cut him.

he's definitely still way out of shape. He apparently put on a lot of weight since his 2010 glory days here

People said the same thing when we first signed him in 2010...then he came in and played extremely well for us.

I can guarantee he would be better than that ogre ropati pittitua that thinks he can just stand straight up every play and be effective.

Well, guys like Weigmann and Lilja have to eat 10,000 calories a day or more to keep the weight on. There are a ton of lineman and linebackers in the league that have that very same problem.

Unfortunately for Smith, he's not one of those guys.

I can understand them having to pack in the calories when they're playing and working out every day, but I'm surprised they have that much problem keeping weight on when they are out of the game.

Well, I knew a lot of guys like that back in the day, so stories like this aren't surprising to me. They'd have to eat like crazy, almost to the point where you didn't recognize their faces because they were so bloated, then once the season was over, they'd drop it incredibly fast.

Of course, it depends on body type but it happens quite frequently. Ever noticed how lean some of these guys are on TV once their careers are over? It's almost kinda freaky.

I guess for some athletes, once their bodies get so used to consuming that many calories to keep their weight up for so many years, a normal diet just doesn't cut it.
