He never had to be as precise about his footwork or his hand-fighting technique like a Larry Fitzgerald/Jerry Rice or more normal-speed WR.

'Normal' WRs have to have or acquire those kinds of skills or their time is short in the NFL. Skyy has nice footwork (still needs work, but he's further ahead than Hardman is right now) but he showed troubles getting off jams. I suspect he's working on that right now.

I'm not holding my breath as far as the Ross' are concerned. Any production Andy gets out of them will just be icing on the cake. doubt Andy can count on anything there.
another reason that we never seem to draft of develop a WR, or Reid with the Eagles is because it's probably a position that easier to tell if they are going to be good or not and the top talents are gone a lot by the 2nd round. Usually the top 20 in the first. I was watching some video of the best WR's from each round.

MVS is one of the greatest 5th round pick WR's of all time, for example.

Andy Reid is a winner and doesn't often get a draft pick in the top 15.

Okay, and I agree with everything you just said.

But that only makes signing a solid WR that much more imperative, right? If we already know that we're probably not going to draft such a player because we never draft high enough, and the WRs that we do draft are less likely to develop into a top-tier WR, then it behooves us to sign one in FA, right? Otherwise, before you know it, the WR room is filled 9 deep with limited, middling, inconsistent WRs that can only be developed so much. How many SBs can we win with a roomful of MVS?

ya, I'd be more comfortable with getting a good vet WR too.

There has to be a good reason why they didn't get anybody (yet).

We are really mainly losing JuJu, Watson was a good 4th/5th WR and did some things but you can probably get what he did with one of the Ross's or a draft pick. Hardman was out for the last half of the year including the playoffs and they were fine without.

Mahomes is so good at spreading the ball around that it doesn't make me that worried about not having a star WR. The thing that worries me is the injuries to Toney because he probably could develop into a phenom.

I'm sure they have a plan though, we just have to see what it is.

Veach always pulls off some wild as shit move. Would not be surprised to see him trade for some WR we didn't even have on the radar that is just awesome.

i disagree that KC's OL was better than PHI's. Strike that; that's not what you said. Yes, the KC OL did outplay PHI's OL in the SB. Some luck was involved. Just the fact that Wylie was our starting RT tells you something about how lucky we got. Field conditions helped our OL quite a bit in the SB, in particular Wylie's performance, but also OBJ's.

Also, I think Andy schemed up the right mix of moving pockets, chips, rushes (in the 2nd half), etc. to keep the PHI DL guessing instead of being able to pin their ears back on every snap. And of course they got extremely unlucky with the number and frequency of slipping with PHI EDGEs. 5-6 fewer slips by certain guys might've changed the outcome of the game.

The lack of reliable productive depth is concerning, I think to anyone that can read the stats of our current WR room. No, we don't need a true 1, but a solid 2 I think is absolutely necessary to get back to the SB. But maybe that's just me.
I’d agree we don’t necessarily need a true #1 right now, but I think that changes in 2-3 years m with Kelce finally slowing down at some point. Considering how long it takes a WR to get up to speed in this system they probably need to have that player in house a year or two before they actually need them to step up and take the reins.

Yup, it was just two years ago when we lost Schwartz and fisher and we had almost no answers at OL despite a Super Bowl disaster. We landed Orlando brown in late April. Then drafted two guys who ended up being great starters right away. We didn’t have answers until very late April.

I still think theres another wave coming. We still have a few mega qb contracts coming which could create some wr movement. The jets and chargers being the most obvious examples. I just can’t see veach punting on this. We could’ve kept juju and mecole for really cheap if we wanted to. So I don’t think it’s a matter of keeping together the most affordable value wr room possible.
