The thing to remember here is Ben Roethlisberger is a declining player, without Haley he is already back to holding on to the ball forever.

This defense needs to have some different blitz packages designed up to really take advantage of that and create some fumbles off of hits. You play back, don't give up big plays and make Ben be patient because without ole Todd there to drill it into his head that he needs to be on time on routes, he just holds it waiting for big plays. You make him be patient and take his dump offs because his whole career is that he's not really willing to do that other than the Haley years.

Offensively though the Steelers front 7 is pretty good, Reids ability to use misdirection will matter here due to that. Their weakness is the secondary and I fully expect them to try to play the Chiefs at least to a degree like they have the last several times which is to sit in that cover 2 shell and dare the Chiefs to go down the field. I expect that because teams are stubborn and Tomlin has a cover 2 background to begin with.

San Diego tried to drop into cover 2 a few times..Mahomes hit the open spot between the CB's and Safeties every time.

If you believe in Mahomes this can be a win because that teams secondary is garbage and they don't match up very well. They've honestly never matched up very well and Smith just couldn't or wouldn't do anything about it.

The Chiefs haven't won a non-preseason game in Pittsburgh since Mark Malone was the Steelers QB 32 years ago.

Long overdue for a win.

KC CHIEFS vs. PITTSBURGH STEELERS: Who wins? Your predictions?

Both of their starting corners may not play. Haden is listed as doubtful and Burns is listed as questionable so I say we get to 41 pints in this game now. Chiefs will win 41-31 as they put the game away by making it a two possession game on their last drive.

Big Rape hasn't played well against KC the last two meetings...it took a miracle pass with under 4 minutes to beat them last season and a VERY ticky-tack holding call in the post season.

Haley gone, Bell gone, Shazier gone, Harrison gone, Bryant gone, DeCastro out, Hayden out...most importantly, Alex Smith gone.

I think this team is on the serious decline...and riding on past glory. They looked like crap on Sunday...This inst the same team and I think TH leaving for Cleveland is going to affect them more than people know yet.

Chiefs arent the same team either with Mahomes...but KC has battered fan syndrome and they expect the same results as the ultraconservative "I cant solve cover 2" Smith..the whole dynamic of KCs offense has changed. Mahomes can hit those WRs running wide open...when Smith would panic and run for one yard.

KC by 10...starting two back-up CBs against Watkins and Hill?

If I were a DC..I would focus on taking Brown out of the equation and see if they can match scores using Ju-Ju and Conner. I dont think they can...Jones against Decastro's back-up will be interesting.

I also think KC's defense, while not great, isnt as bad as the stat line shows. They held LA to 12 points though 3 quarters and the dropped passes ended up scoring drives anyways.

What the talking heads dont mention is Reid went completely vanilla, offensively, in the 4th. He had them down by 3 scores...why show anything when you dont have to? Defense went prevent in order to burn clock and keep them from scoring quickly...they just were trying to get out of there without injuries. Rivers picked them apart...but the strategy worked. That was some serious garbage time stats...Bortles style.
