Another TV provider fails to reach an agreement with Sinclair Broadcasting....
Sinclair Broadcasting, the company that owns the distribution rights to the Fox Regional Sports networks (FoxSports KC) has failed to come to an agreement with YouTubeTV, so the FoxSports networks have been pulled. This means no Royals. At first I was pissed at Google (who owns YouTubeTV), thinking they were trying to be the corporate giant that they are and were just trying to strong-arm Sinclair into a deal. Then I looked into it a little more. Apparently YouTubeTV is just the next in a growing list of providers that have failed to "come to an agreement" with Sinclair Broadcasting. The list currently stands at Dish Network, Sling, Fubotv, and now YouTubeTV with more to come I assume. So basically, Sinclair is a bunch of greedy ****ing pricks that are holding the FoxSports networks hostage from providers and the ones who are suffering are of course, we the people. Guess I'm going to have to find a cough* cough* questionably legal way of watching the Royals this year. Greedy assholes.

We had no Royals or Cardinals last year, haven't checked to see if we will this year.

Now we have been without CBS for several months due to KOLR and Nexstar.

I have kind of half assed started looking for a DVR for our antenna, watching commercials and watching a program when it is actually aired sucks.

Anyone have any suggestions on a cheap DVR?

Yes, but the regional one is the one that hosts Royals games. This might make me cancel if they don't get it figured out. That's one of the main reasons I pay for it.

FYI, Fox Television is a separate entity from the old Fox Regional Sports Networks, which were actually individual networks and affiliated with Fox TV.

Once Disney acquired 21st Century Fox, they were required by the FCC to sell all of the former Regional Sports Networks.

Sinclair Broadcasting purchased the RSN's for well below the expected value, which in turn will affect the Royals TV deal and any future TV deals, and not in a "good" way.

I had heard rumors that Fox Sports KC was willing to pay up to $80 million to broadcast Royals games but with the overall value of the RSN's sinking, Sinclair's only willing to go around $50 million...

RSNs are dying. I'm not sure what the solution is, but it is what it is. Altitude Sports (which carries Avs hockey games and Nuggets basketball games) has been off the air on Comcast and Dish the entire season (going on 5 months now) because the providers don't want to put them on their basic tiers, but Altitude would see huge revenue cuts if it was on an optional sports tier.
