Here's an interesting little anomaly.

We're further out of the wild card race than we are the division race. I bet that doesn't happen very often.

If the season was to end now, the playoff teams would be:

Patriots (10-0)
Steelers (7-3)
Colts (9-2)
Chargers (6-5)

The wild card teams would be:

Jaguars (8-3)
Browns (7-4)

Other teams standing between us and a wild card spot would be:

Titans (6-5)
Bills (5-6)
Texans (5-6)
Broncos (5-6)

If we beat the Chargers at home, we only need to make up one game to beat them in a tiebreaker. Then we can go play for field goals in the playoffs and hope to hold a playoff team under ten points.

I admire your optimism, Rain Man. Even the usually sunny and hopeful KCJ is throwing in the towel for 2007. 4 home losses = forfieture of pro sports' best home field advantage. I'm really sickened by that. Losing to a 2-8 team is (*ouch*) even worse. Losing after your RB pounds out 150 yds in flat out humiliating.

That said, if we beat SD, your scenario is very much alive.

I cant stand how the playoffs are set up now.

You have these wildcard teams with better records than one of the division winners, who have to travel to a lesser teams stadium and play a playoff game.

Thats no way to treat your fans or that team.

I can't help it. I'm one of those guys who stands on the Alamo wall and yells, "Hey, you! Yeah, you, Santa Anna! Are those all you brought? That's not gonna cut it! And you've got a name like a girl!"
