Is it time to replace Arrowhead with a dome?

The cold, crappy Dec/Jan. KC weather doesn't appear to provide any real home field advantage anymore.

At least the fans wouldn't be so miserable in a nice climate controlled facility. No more thousands of no shows or leaving at halftime on bad weather days.

I don't like that because the sunshine is needed on cold days. Sitting in shade feels 20 degrees colder. The diff between the shaded South side is pretty substantial. It more than offsets the occasional rain or snow we get.

I like Minnesota and Seattle stadiums the best. Though, in general, I can't stand domes. and I hate field turf.

VARSITY
When the stadium renovation proposals were drafted for Jackson County voters, there was two separate proposals on the ballot. The first was for the general renovation of Arrowhead and Royals (now Kauffman) Stadiums. That tax passed.

A second, separate bill was drafted to raise money to enclose Arrowhead. It was basically like stretching a giant clear tarp across the stadium, protecting it from moisture, but not really climate controlling it. This tax proposal failed. It failed mostly because Jackson County voters didn't want to get double taxed, and many thought that the Hunt Family could pay for a cover it they wanted it bad enough. Also, lots of Chiefs fans think being outdoors for games like tonight give the Chiefs an advantage over teams like Oakland, San Diego and Denver. Sure, Denver get snow, but they don't get the brutal cold as often or for as long as we get it here in KC. And the California teams never play well in extreme cold. It's an additional home field advantage. All the rich ****ers are inside their luxury suites anyway, and those are all climate controlled. The real fans -the fans who actually make noise- are outdoors in the elements.

This is the artists rendition the Chiefs showed to voters. It didn't fly.

On other occasions folks in my row have worked to put kids in seats where it's less of a problem. That's the beauty of Arrowhead, folks usually try to make it awesome for everybody. Heck, I've even let him stand in his seat, or in my seat (so he has a shoulder to hold on to), and it all works out.

I get what you're saying, but I find that most of the time people will work with you. And if they don't, because they're assholes, there's always a spilled bottle of water that you as a "true fan" can schedule for an accident.
Good post. I never had a problem with it unless my Mrs. went with me. Each time we had drunk assholes in front of us.
I personally don't mind standing as I am totally into the game and am tall enough to see over or around.
If she stood in her chair, which she couldn't do for very long, then the people behind us couldn't see.
Bottom line is, there is a time and a place for everything. I guess our time of going to Arrowhead has passed.

Canadian researchers analyzed data on the five most common injuries that occurred during two National Football League seasons between 2012 and 2014.

Players had a two times higher risk of concussion and a 1.5 times higher risk of ankle injuries when the temperature was 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius) or colder compared to games played in 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius), the findings showed.

The researchers also found that players were 1.36 times more likely to suffer shoulder injuries during games played on natural grass instead of synthetic turf.
