Perspective

The first thread I ever started was after the Patriots game and had the same title. This loss is infinitely more painful and I feel physically ill, but:

1/ We still control our own destiny.
2/ The entire mood on CP would be different had we gotten one simple stop on that last drive.
3/ We almost lost to the Ravens last week and pulled that out of nowhere. I viewed that as a gutsy win and still do. My guess is many of you now view that as a fluke-ish win simply because we lost by 1pt today.
4/ We still have Mahomes and he's still 23 and I'd rather be the Chiefs than any other team in the AFC heading into the playoffs.
5/ I won't let our history in prior years overwhelm me right now. I think things are different and the future can prove me wrong in the playoffs.
6/ We're 11-3. Pretty sure no one expected us to be here at this point in the season.
7/ Mahomes.

Water is wet and this defense is what we thought it was. I want to punch all the people in the face who were happy we didn't give up a draft pick or two to pick up some defensive help, and I'm not sure why Berry wasn't on the field the entire second half (maybe the telecast had an explanation?). But I'm not going to melt down as if this were a playoff game that completely destroyed any hope of our winning a Super Bowl this season.

I still believe this team is different.

Again.

Because we're not undefeated and have 3 losses by a total of 7 points?

There's been no team in recent history that's won a SB that hasn't had holes or some of these similar losses. It's not like we just didn't show up today.

Our defense was actually pretty good - until the last two Charger drives. Part of that falls on defensive scheming

The simple difference is Mahomes is young, as is most of the offense. They have time, not much, but time.

The Chiefs achilles heal is never fielding a complete team. One squad has ALWAYS had to carry the other. Until this changes, nothing will.

Veach found Mahomes, but he won't prove his worth till he drafts AND starts better defensive leaders/players on the back seven.

The playoffs will be about individual match ups, not past successes or failures.

I agree. Chiefs could lose the Seattle game (I doubt it, but it's a tough place to play), but the Chargers could also clearly lose either of their next two against teams playing for the playoff lives.

Perspective: This defense is all time bad. Worse than 2003 Greg Robinson defense. Andy will never put his foot on the other teams throat when we have a lead. We are destined to keep games close that shouldn't be. We aren't winning shit in the post season.

I would imagine the Chiefs will only be -1 or -2 at the very most in Seattle. Seattle is playing well right now and their losses have been close

You're right -- we have a good of a chance as anyone does. Problem is with our weapons on offense and Pat Mahomes, every game against a decent team shouldn't be a coin flip. Bob Sutton has been absolutely dreadful in the playoffs, and this year's D is historically bad. You really think we will make it through the playoffs with the offense playing absolutely flawlessly every game? That's what it's going to take.

The Broncos will be dead by Week 17. Interestingly, we're going to be pinning our hopes on the Ravens to beat the Chargers.

Perspective - this team is one of the best in the AFC - our big weakness is our defense but it’s been our weakness for years - Reid is a loyal person and we’ll soon find out if it costs us a Super Bowl appearance. If it does I truly believe he fires Sutton. If not then Reid may not ever find himself with a Lombardi trophy.

This team is a perpetual one-and-done in the playoffs until Bob Sutton is fired. Prove me wrong.

FYI: if Seattle beats the Niners on Sunday, they lock up the #5 seed and can do no better or no worse. So that might be a little bit of a saving grace for the Chiefs.

Seattle will basically be playing a pre-season game against the Chiefs (assuming they win Sunday) and have absolutely nothing to play for. Maybe they will rest some key starters?

Because Chiefs, no. They will run it up our soft ass defense.
