Modesto A's are now the Modesto...
Recently the single A Modesto A's moved to Stockton and took their name with them after 30 year stint in Modesto. The town of Modesto replaced them with another teams A league farm team and had to come up with a new name because they were no longer affiliated with the A's.

Believe it or not, they came up with the:

Modesto NUTS.

This was based on the fact that the surrounding area is a world leader in the production of Almonds and Walnuts.

It also has never been used before.

O.K.

I can hear it now. Today is free Nutsack day at the ball park.

No, but on another note.

Back in the day, the Oakland A's radio and TV had a major sponsor campaign by Blue Diamond Almonds. They said, "there goes another Basball nut". I guess it is time for the lawyers to get Blue diamond to release that slogan for the Modesto team. I am sure they are amenable to the idea, Ripon is right on the border of Modesto.

After all, isn't Gary Condit, and Scott Peterson from Modesto? They really grow some nuts there.

I still think Omaha is aboud as screwed up as you can, given two chances to name teams they blew it both times.

The second one is the worst though, the Golden Spike isn't even in NE and was just a horrible attempt to suck up to a railroad company, that must have failed because they changed it back to the Royals...

They should have just said Omaha Steaks, and signed a contract with that company.
