I'm not worried about next year, just lamenting the fact that we're paying MVS the $11m that JuJu asked for and I'd 110% rather have JuJu > MVS.

Nah, really you wouldn't. JuJu's production can be replicated a number of different ways (likely a combination of Skyy/Toney/Justyn); MVS's speed just can't. His ability to vertically stretch the field is a sunk cost; we have to pay it until we find another replacement. Nice thing is that speed guys do become available either through the draft or FA fairly often, so either way we probably won't have to pay real money for MVS' replacement after next season.

But even if we can't find his replacement after this coming season, $11 million isn't a big deal for how he impacts the opposing defense.

Maybe John Ross can do the same, when healthy, and we picked him up for nothing.

I like MVS just fine, but I don't think he's worth $11m.

If MVS were a free agent this offseason what contract offer do you think he would have gotten after JuJu's deal? ...would it have been closer to JuJu's $11m offer or Harman's $1.8m?

Yah. Problem is staying healthy. But at the least he can be a decent backup for MVS, assuming he's healthy to start the season.

No idea really. My assessment of how much players should get paid is skewed by the fact that i think all players are overpaid. If I had to guess, maybe a couple million less per year?

For fun...

JuJu $11m per after a 933 yard season

MVS after a 687 yard season = ?

Hardman $1.8m after a 297 yard season

it's fair to say his value this offseason would have been closer to JuJu's than Hardman's, but still unlikely to match JuJu's $11m per year value. I'd say somewhere around $6m-$8m value IMO.

Can't argue. Personally, I would never pay MVS more than $7-$8 million/yr.

And MVS will never be an all-around WR like JuJu was. He's fine in the limited role Andy's put him in. but he'll never be a true WR2, like say Mike Williams or whoever. He's a middle WR3 at best. But his speed and length make him much more valuable than he otherwise would be if he were just an average speed WR. If he had just Juju's speed/quickness, I'm not sure MVS would even be in the league. Maybe not in the XFL.

Part of the issue for Juju was the market. All of the WR class this year was Juju style guys except Chark. And Chark cant stay healthy so thats a hard 1 to 1 comparison.

Gotta question Kraft. Letting Bill do whatever he wants is stupid. His team is loser now because of his own shit.

Yeah, Kraft has needed to reign in Belichick for a bit now.

He's lost the plot. The moment he went into last season without a genuine coaching staff - just a pile of cronies he stuck where he had to to fill out a roster - he needed to be put on notice.

That franchise needs a genuine GM and the owner needs to put his hand on the steering wheel in a big way. BB is piloting that thing into a mountain.

I'm sure anyone would get shit on by saying this....but it's been that way for a whole long time and Brady just helped cover it up.

Seriously, it's why I hate the whole "The Patriots traded Seymour and this guy and they did that". Yeah, they did. It worked because of the QB. That's it. They rolled the point and didn't crap out so many times...."Yeah yeah it's skill at that point".

Bullshit. They fell ass over tea kettle into the GOAT, inserted him into a roster built by someone else and got lucky.
